This is how I created a model of the Illinois Terminal Depot in Monticello, Illinois. 

Since my family has been at home, we have looked for projects and "fun" things to do to pass the time and keep us all off of electronic devices.  One of these projects includes building some G scale cars. 

A friend asked if I would assemble an American Model Builders Gulf, Mobile, & Ohio (GM&O) caboose kit for them.  This blog will show the process.  

I am hoping to document the build of a Great Northern Historical Society resin kit for a weed sprayer. 

Follow along as I assemble a 3D print of Illinois Terminal Combine 277. 

The goal will be to turn this American Model Builders Illinois Terminal caboose kit shown below (photo from the AMB website)

into this caboose as shown below (photo courtesy of Dale Jenkins collection). 

In the following blog, I will tell the story of how the development of a 3D printed model of a P&R gondola hopper came about.  I will also share a few 3D printing mistakes and how I corrected them along the way.

Having built several resin car kits now, and wanting a challenge, I have started a Speedwitch Media A. E. Staley Tank Car kit. 

For those that have read my blogs, I am modeling the early Illinois Terminal, or the Illinois Traction as it was known before the 1930's.  My next project is recreate the early drop bottom gondola hoppers that the Illinois traction had as shown in this photo below courtesy of Mike Fourtney's collection. Specifically it is car 3065 in the foreground.  The Illinois Traction Company had about 300 of these I think.
