Planning to destroy your layout
It seems the Reverse Running Thread has been Spammed...because I can't find any links to it...
Anyhow I have here a visual illustration of the techniques best used against track.
Step 1: Spray it down wet and let soak.
Yard Signal Protection
AKA, what is Benny up to?
And we know with the Bowie Station out the door, Benny is up to SOMETHING!!
Indeed - I've jumped into the signaling pool, feet first!
Adventures in Laser Cutting: Protection Devices
So when my Laser cutter got here, one of the first things I noticed is that my water pump was not the best of the batch, and had an issue starting up. Seeing as how it was so silent, I'd probably not be able to tell if the pump was running or not from sound alone. A dead pump means I could lose my tub in a matter of hours, as opposed to months or years.
So I found these little flow meters on Ebay with a self contained thermometer. I thought I give them a whirl, so I picked up a 5V power supply and all the incidentals.
MRH: International?
So now that we have a thread dedicated to German Railroads and we have Michaels' very nice work, it has occurred to me quite suddenly that MRH itself may be in for a question of the minds: Does MRH go International?
Such an issue was never really an issue of contention for the old paper volumes: they picked a demographic and targeted it, as their medium limited them to that market.
THIS is what Layout Tours Should look like!!!
So I was running around the Internets this morning, and I stumbled across this...
Narrow Gauge Fun: HOn3 4-6-0
So I was doing some cleaning and organizing and rearranging tonight and then I cracked open this box I have - I have too many boxes like this!! - but anyhow...I found my rail bender, for one!!
This box contained the spoils from a good night on the high Ebay seas: an HOn3 chassis and cab from the Train and Trooper ET&WNC 4-6-0. Now it didn't come with a boiler, which is a pity, but then again, if it had a boiler I would not have this box in my hands - Ebay would have pushed the price much higher than what I paid for it!
Rethinking Consist Power Balancing
So last night on my way to work I got to thinking about how some manufacturers use two-way decoders to achieve near perfect power balancing between consisted units. it really is a work of art to see the engines working together on video.
But then I got to thinking: what if all of my units are not equipped with two-way decoders, yet one of them has Advanced consist power balancing. Does that power balancing HAVE to rely on a "two-way decoder in every locomotive" device?
Wireless Wings for DCC Throttles
So this may be a zany Idea - indeed, it probably very well is! But bear with me for a moment, there may be something here afoot!
I drew it all up in this simple diagram. One diagram spares a 1000 words - wheeh!!
