Well since you asked...

To help celebrate the four year anniversary of my IAIS Grimes Line layout, I put together a quick video highlighting the procedures at Fleur Yard.

Taking some time to work on some smaller, clean up projects around the layout. I have several aisle-side structures, especially along the Clive peninsula and the PDM spur. Most are shallow flats with a few details, but I wanted to provide a bit of a finished edge to these structures.

Thanks to a little technology, we now have photo backdrops for the Fleur Yard extension of my IAIS Grimes Line layout.

Finished up the smaller details at the Fleur Yard expansion on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.

Up first is a look at the western approach to the yard along Terrace Hill. I built some power poles using bamboo skewers, strip lumber, and Rix Products cross arms. On the prototype a row of high-voltage lines parallels the joint UP/IAIS main until it reaches the yard, where it turns south over the Raccoon River.

New power has arrived on the Grimes Line, in the form of the long-awaited Athearn Genesis GP38-2s in IAIS colors. There’s a bit of work to make these a little more accurate (remove class lights, replace lighting, weather, etc.) but overall I’m very pleased with the product and am happy to get to finally grow my roster.

A quick update on the Fleur Yard expansion to my IAIS Grimes Line layout…

Track has been installed and wired on the Fleur Yard expansion of my IAIS Grimes Line layout. Tonight I was able to test out the new procedures with the yard, and how it would work in an op session.

Roadbed and base landforms are in on my IAIS Grimes Line layout’s Fleur Yard extension. I’ve also marked the track centerlines, and finished the fascia and skirting around what’s left of the utility closet.
