I have been wanting to try Scale Models products for some time but here in New Zealand the product offerings aren't that great.

To my surprise, on a recent visit to my LMS there was a Scale Models Evans Box Car at a very reasonable price.

Assembly of the kit was straight forward and I was very pleased with the product especially as it came with metal wheels.  However, I did replace the supplied couplers with Kadee 148s.

My only disappointment was the fit of the wheels in the trucks. They were tight and wouldn't run freely. No problem I thought, I can ream them out with my Truck tuning tool. Then I discovered that the supplied wheel sets have an axle that is about 1mm shorter than my usual ones and the tuning tool wouldn't fit the supplied trucks.

I sent an email off to Scale Trains explaining the problem and asking if they could suggest a way for me to ease the fit of the wheels.

i got a reply within a few hours ( it was Sunday in the US) saying they would replace the wheel sets and get back to me very soon.  Suffice to say I had replacement free running wheel sets in my hands less than six days later. What great service.

 IMHO this MRH advertiser are doing a great job and their products are certainly impressing me.
