Unable to reset decoder in new Atlas FM H16-44

After making some changes using JMRI, I lost the sound in the engine.  I tried resetting the decoder, both through the NCE PowerCab itself and through the ESU LokProgrammer.  Neither is resetting the decoder.

Using the NCE I select Programming Track, set CV 8 to 8, escaped out, and then take the engine off the track for 10 seconds.  Put the engine back on the track and it won't respond to 3, only the four-digit engine number I previously programmed in.  Same thing happens when using the ESU LokProgrammer.

Any suggestions on how to reset the decoder or do I need to send this back to Atlas?

Joe, using a LokProgrammer

Joe, using a LokProgrammer was one of the first things I tried.  It didn't reset the decoder.

Still scratching my head

Neldon, I don't believe it's an NCE issue.  A LokProgrammer didn't work on resetting the decoder, either.

Time to replace the decoder

A LokProgrammer didn't work on resetting the decoder, either.

Then it's time to replace the decoder -- send it back to ESU for repair / replacement.

I agree.

I agree with Joe.  Time for a decoder replacement unfortunately.  I had and older QSI decoder that went blank on me just after I removed from an Atlas C-420.  Even though I had reset it when it was removed, it never came back after an install in another locomotive.  I was a good reason to upgrade at that point!

ESU or Atlas?

Send it back to ESU or Atlas?  It's a new engine, received from Trainworld two weeks ago.  Atlas just released it last month.
