Operating chain link industry gate
A while back, someone posted a video showing an operating chain link gate for a railside industry; I don't recall if it operated manually or electrically/electronically. Anyone remember the post, or have a link, or can point me in the right direction? I tried a search here on MRH, but no luck.TIA

The Misadventures of Laura Station
I bought this kit from M.B. Klein:
I thought I would try it as the originating station for excursions on the Little Trees and Surfside. The listed dimensions were a tad big for the place it has to fit, but I figured if I left off the platform (which for some reason seems to be on the back of the station) it would work. This is the chronicle of what I had to do to make it so.

Yet another tree quandary......(of a slightly different kind)
In the photo below, you will see two conifers I've been working on. I'm pretty happy with them and have gotten the look I wanted. I had always planned to put a third one up on the ridge too. Probably by moving the smaller one forward and putting something a little larger in the back. Now I'm not so sure. It's as if the area begs for something to be there, even if nothing more than a stump or a pile of deadfall.
Is a router a tool that has enough potential applications to make the investment worthwhile?
As a tool junkie I have no problem working up the temptation and I do have a few situations where owning a router would be helpful, but I just don't know if over the long haul it would be a reasonable investment. Perhaps anyone who's used one on their railroad would have an opinion on this.
Joint Bars in O and S scale? other scales?
Our HO Scale Joint Bars have been very popular and I have gotten requests to
produce the bars in other scales.
We already offer an N scale set, and I'm working on a channel style version too.
In the mean time, I'd like to know what other scales people are interested in having joint bars for?
O Scale? S Scale? Other scales?
And more importantly, WHAT CODE of RAIL should these fit for each scale?
Some real neat animation

Using Post It Tape to Mask Off Brick Curtain Building for Painting
I was looking at different ways to do this building. What to paint first, how to mask, etc. Having found this tape earlier, I thought I would give it a try. The tape is just sticky enough to stay in place, but came off really easy. I used my chopper to get nice 90 degree corners and consistent tape length. I painted everything red first, then masked the brick by cutting tape and overlapping. The edges of the cement of the building make great guides for the tape. All in all it worked great with very little under-spray to touch up afterwards.
