Scenery - Structures

A first post on my layout building (sort of)

I found this after I had already started my layout blog, at www.westcoastrails.whsites.net.  You can see earlier posts there.

Cork Bark for Modeling Rocks

Greetings fellow N Scalers, have any of you used cork bark for modeling rock faces?  I have a huge sheet of it and I'm not certain if I should add a light coat of plaster over it in regards to painting to achieve the desired look I need.  The cork bark looks great, I just don't know how to model it, any suggestions would be great.

Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad - visit #2 / Got Concrete?

I was recently in Florida and had set up an appointment in advance with Michael Rose to again visit his excellent (and expansive!) N scale Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad.  If you've seen the previous posts this is one massive N scale layout with Michael constructing an entire building to house his layout.  I had promised Michael that I'd share my little knowledge on water as he is nearing the time when he will be doing water features on this layout - which took me all of about 5 minutes.  What I wasn't expecting is that Michael would te

Help needed with a B.T.S. Craftsman kit

I am building my first laser cut kit.It is Anderson's Pulpwood Yard by B.T.S.  I painted it before removing it from the tree tonight, and some of the walls warped. I am thinking of spraying the back with windex and placing some weight on top to flatten it back out. Will this work or is there some other trick I should try. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

Finished the wood chip storage building - almost . . .

There are so many topics posted that spur me to start new projects, I decided I had to get at least one "in progress" off my workbench first.  My pulp mill's wood chip storage building was the candidate.  It is built the way all my structures have been: as cheaply as I can manage!

RGS and D&RG - Durango roundhouse brick walls available

I was catching up on the Scotty Mason podcast, and learned that Monster Modelworks is going to run just the walls for the Durango roundhouse.

Jimmy at Monster has created a method to cut AMAZING 3d brick walls from wood, on a laser.  The Durango walls aren't up on his site yet (as of last night), but this should be a boon to RGS and D&RG fans.

I've also added the walls to my listing of structures and available models for the RGS (listed by town), here:

Looks like a nice building detail but there are no instructions  or pictures of it assembled.

Can someone please share their building with platform and stairs installed?
