TH&B 70 Ton Hopper

I've written a series of posts about a pair of 70 ton TH&B hoppers that I built by improving a couple of 20-year-old Stewart kits.  Both cars are finished, and I've written a post with some pics of one of the cars.

programming decoders

Good afternoon all, new here.  Looking for help programing BLI Paragon2 steam.

Any one experienced a "run away" ?  I have had two locomotives do it.  My buddy has had the same problem with three.  An acquaintance had one.  Cannot say for the acquaintance on his experience.

My bud and I use the NCE Power Cab.  I do our programing with Decoder Pro 3.  I have contacted NCE, and was advised to turn off the answerback sound and turn off BEMF.  BLI advised, set that.

Scratchbuilding grab irons

I recently made my first foray into detailing a locomotive by adding grabs to an old Athearn locomotive. I'd classify it as not a total failure, especially for a first attempt. It was quite an enjoyable experience as well. Using advice I read here on these forums, I utilized staples to fabricate my own grabs, bending them on a pair of needle-nosed pliers. The overall effect is pretty good, though the staple grabs are pretty plainly larger than scale size (particularly when painted yellow and applied to a black locomotive).

Atlas ROCO loco's with DCC decoders

I'm thinking of adding DCC decoders to Atlas Roco loco's is that a good idea?  I know the motor stall amp draw is with in the limits of the decoder.  My thought is to use a NCE or TCS decoder.  I may go to a stay alive, but I haven't decided on that wrinkle yet.
