Modeling realistic cobble stone roads
Hi! I´ve been working on a city scene featuring a cobble stone road. The first part has been completed, so I made a video tutorial of how it was done.
Keep Alive, lift gate in track, and derails
Every so often I see a comment about how killing power to tracks when a lift gate in the track is opened isn't very effective when a loco has KeepAlive. The loco is supposed to stop, but can keep going and end up on the floor.
Here is a link to pictures of a possible solution. Split rail derail will put the loco off the rails, but if it's strategically located the train will still be on the layout. I can see whittling extra parts off some old turnouts that aren't DCC friendly, and wiring a switch machine to activate when the lift gate is opened.
White transfers, how do the professionals?
Dear all,
Some vendors who make white transfers, charge for a film in addition to the cost of the transfer. This implies they use an UV-reactive sort of blank transfer sheet. Does anyone know of a brand name for these sheets?
Thank you,
"SP" Phil
Lighted uncoupling tool
Good find under May news: Lighted uncoupling tool from Hobby Advisors. I tested and I think it is a must have tool.
It always pays to read the "small print " in MRH.
BTW it should be included in a What's Neat Show.
