Smartphone Layout photography
I was happy to see Lance Mindheim's article on smartphone photography up here. I've always liked his simplistic slant on the hobby with amazing results. I also picked up Model Railroader and Pelle Soesberg has a similar article...photographing your layout with an iphone (or Smartphone in my case). Awesome! Is it a cooincidence?
Smartphones, like mine, the LG G5, come with 2 cameras. The standard 16 megapixels, the wide angle 8.
Reader question: How to reletter locos
Got this today from a reader ...
In the Ken Patterson Column in your Oct Issue, Whats New, page 6 of the article, the blue diesel I believe is an Athearn Genesis unit and I have 2 of these units with the same cab number 1201.
My question is: how to change the number? I don't know if it is a decal or printed on the cab? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you for your excellent publication. It's a great resource for the hobby.

Protecting carpet laid over concrete from benchwork legs
This posting is especially for modelers that are going to use benchwork with legs and carpet laid over concrete floors. It's a way to provide stable support for the legs and keep them from damaging the carpet. The "how-to" details follow.
Cleaning track is removing my concrete/road paint... Help!
So here is a photo of my area with the stryene down, to be painted as concrete. I was testing some different paints and discovered I cannot clean the track in this large area of sunken track without my alcohol moist paper towel rubbing my painted styrene... removing it, no matter how carful I am. What can I use to matte clear coat my cement paint to protect it from 91% isopropyl alcohol or is there a paint that 91% isopropyl alcohol does not remove or effect? Thanks for anything-
