NMRA 75: The National Train Show Thursday 7/15/2010 (Photo Heavy)
(Note: Some of you might have seen a version of this post go up briefly last night. After reflection, I decided that some of the items were inappropriate too be posted at that time and I took it back down. Here it is again, without the inappropriate elements, which will instead be in my Friday report, for which they are entirely appropriate!)
NMRA 75: The National Train Show Thursday 7/15/2010 (Photo Heavy)
Today was the setup day for the National Train Show, so I didn't make it to any clincs at all. On the other hand, I got to see many hobby manufacturers and retailers as they set up their displays and also many of the modular layouts being assembled - there are two very large FREEMO layouts as well as a huge N-Trak layout.
NMRA 75: Wednesday 7/14/2010
Take two: I was almost done with this entry, when apparently I hit the wrong "mouse" button on my laptop... and goodbye it went. Sigh. It's been a long day.... a fun one, but a long one nonetheless. Also, I popped a Nyquil a little over a half hour ago, so I expect to be unconcious before long.
I haven't worked on my layout for a while...
I haven't worked on my layout for a while but I have been doing some research on it and ordering some stuff for it.
NMRA 75: My first day (Monday, 7/12/2010)
Wow... I'm tired. This morning started at 3am Pacific to catch a 6:15am flight from Portland to Milwaukee, via Denver.
It's now 9:15pm Pacific... but my body feels the 11:15pm Central it is here.

Follow us on Facebook for live posts throughout the day from the NMRA convention floor in Milwaukee.
The easy way to do this is to go watch our new MRH Theater video on RSS, and then subscribe to our Facebook RSS feed and set your update frequency to every 15 minutes.
Then you will get near real time posts from us and you don't even need to join Facebook to do it! Very cool.
computers and trains
If you have Google Earth enter Tehachapi Loop as a destination and you will see a beautiful photo of an 83 car train - I think container carriers - going around the loop. It has already crossed over itself but the impression is still dramatic. If you follow the tracks south to Mojave you get a good idea of what the route consists of. - no straight lines.
Great computer entertainment - and it's train related.
If you don't have Google Earth I urge you to get it. Incredible photo presentations of the planet we live on.

As Promised Earlier!
As I promised earlier on another blog, I would do some video of the V&O, and here it is, not bad as far as Trainz routes go, however it does have its gremlins, one of the tunnels isn't complete, and there doesn't appear a way to make it complete, this tunnel also isn't a portal or iportal, so the train doesn't disappear inside it only to re emerge somewhere else on the route, the train will just crash through a mountain, go figure, could be a DLS problem or maybe a content creator problem.
