Layout Decisions
Oh Look, A Chicken!
Coping with technology in a modern world.
Admittedly, I was born “old school” just after WWII. Growing up, my life has been one of constant change in the technological age that has become exponential in a relatively short time.
Stirrups
No matter how careful you are, small plastic stirrups on freight cars seem to just "jump off" and disappear into the model railroad void no matter what kind of super glue you might use. I have figured out that making my own from brass wire is probably the best replacement route but I am not sure of the diameter and the length to use to bend into shape. Does anyone have a handy measurement or rule of thumb to use for making these replacements?
Marker Lights
Brand new, out-of-the-box engine or caboose marker lights for which I need help identifying a part/connection. These heavy markers have a brass knurled fitting on one side that is threaded and appears to have a gasket. The top is marked "Adlake" and has a hinged access cap.
CB64 - The Dinner Train
The "Saucer" stops to pick up some more iced reefers on its way to NYC with perishables for the dinner tables on the East Coast.
More Scrap Box Fun

Scrap Box Construction
The first photo is an example of a chip loader I found online.
