Planning ahead for the next expansion in 2021

Planning ahead for the next expansion in 2021.  I know some people like to put pen to paper or your archiving medium of choice,  then go for it.  I know in about a year or two I will be working on the section along the west wall.   I have started to plan now and get everything I need in place, from track plan and final operation set up for this area.  It might be some time before track is tacked in place, but I'm planning now for that event.

Here is my plan as of know,  it is a single industry in around 12' x18"

Guest Operators Arriving today, Setting up.

Guest Operators Arriving today,  Setting up. - It has been a busy month.  Multiple groups of guest operators have been over.  Lots of people from out of town want to check in.  Consider joining Opsig.org if you are into operations.

Update

Update,  intermodal space is being removed and 2 more yard tracks being added into La Grange.  The outer intermodal track will stay but the inner track and container holding area will be replaced with 2 more yard tracks.  More play value is gained with 2 more yard tracks and the intermodal track turning into a 3rd new yard track.

This should make it easier for new operators.  Now more stacking 2 or more trains per yard track.

1st day of spring break, some kids running trains at a friends house.  Those kids ran 5 trains between them.  Other than programming the throttles to select trains they ran from end to end on this massive layout.  No help.

What 3D software do you use and why this one?

What 3D software do you use and why this software?

I have not looked at all the options for software, but have an idea on what I like and why.

One thing I'm looking for is the ability of the 3D software to add texture to a model.

Like adding wood grain or stucco to the side of a building, beyond the flat plane of a 3D model.
