A premiere Opsig.org operator and former NMRA regional/division Director is visiting the layout today.
A premiere Opsig.org operator (In my mind anyway) and former NMRA regional/division Director is visiting the layout today.
I was asked if I would be able to show him the layout. I know my layout is nothing at all like the high quality layouts he operates on all over the united states. I just hope he understand that my layout is not a lookie lou and take picture type layout and is an operators layout. Him being an operator that travels the US I think he will get that.
Get real, Nolix is just a real big Helix
I hear this term Nolix all the time. But truth be told, it is just a big Helix you can stand in the center of.
or a ointment cream you use for.

Camera Car in HO, Hard to beat this set up on GS&M 84107
Looking to make a Camera car that will take video in 4k. I'm sure it will based on this original idea. The one thing that bothers me most is the fish eye or barrel look. Other than that it is high quality and stable video. Picks up fairly good sound too.
So some small tweaks on this basic idea from here

The Basic idea for the car. Lots weights. Very low center of gravity.

With the expansion of the GS&M I was able to gain a lot of extra space. The problem is the GS&M was built to fit into its 12'x 20' space. At this time what is the PHX end staging is now reached via a Huge Helix down to the bottom staging level for all the shared staging on the layout (PHX - North & TUC - South).

Over weight rail car? Is this guy wrong?
CAPY 80000
LD LMT 81700
LT WT 54300
Is it a total of 81700+54300 = 136000 max on scale
or is it
81700-54300 = 27400 for load with a max of 81700 on scale?
What I understand is
LD LMT is the total load the car can hold, CAPY is the design load. Car designed hold 80000 of widgets. But it might be over stuffed to 81700 of widgets.
