Extending the layout and work space.
I sold off some old furniture that was hogging up space in my garage, so I figured it was time to occupy that space again, but with something more enjoyable than a spare mattress. Also, My under the layout work bench was getting crowded, so I need more work space as well. I built an additional 8'x14" section and installed two shelves below for materials storage. This really made my workbench more more workable. It was driving me a bit batty with the bench so crowded. I was often unable to locate things and I was having a hard time completing projects.
Finally got a kit done
My sea of blue needed something. I had this kit laying around for a while now so I figured I would build it. It is my first Walthers kit. Washed the parts with some dish soap. Hit the parts with my air brush. Glued them together, and added some pan pastels. I hope to have it in place ready for its first box car load tonight. Still needs details, but it i will look right at home on my shelf layout.
Settled in and the layout is back up
So, we are all moved in. My son went camping with his mother. My fiance went to Portland with her daughter and mother. So, I was all alone and finally had the time to get my shelf layout back up and dialed in. I was going to build a room in the garage to house it, I still may. But for now, this is a perfect space for me and my shelf layout.
Update. Space has been Negotiated
So, moving in to the house is going well. I was able to easily transport my shelf layout over. I remember my last layout would have been a bear to move. Very thankful my 'OSB under blue foam and overbuilt' days are over!
Next order of business is to get the shelf layout segment back on the wall. I will get that segment up to running condition in no time. It just needs to be mounted and plugged in really.
Dimensions and possibilities with new layout space
So my tight space has given way to more ample room. I was over at the new house and was doing some measuring. The back wall is 14' long. I could attach my current shelf to the wall and add 6' to it and call it good.
Good news!
Well, I have some good news. My fiance are moving into a new house. I now have an insulated garage to work in. I will move the existing layout to its new home and expand on it. No longer will my work bench be my dining room table. I am very excited about the possibilities here. I am most certainly going to keep with the narrow design and I hope to have continuous run(my son would like that) and some hidden staging.
14"x 10' shelf layout
I decided I would share my experiences building my shelf layout. this is my third layout. My first layout was.....well, my first layout. I didn't know much but it was a good first step. My second, well, I had a room dedicated to an around the walls shelf layout with a peninsula. I only got as far as building the bench work. My marriage dissolved and I had to tear it down. Now, I have a lot less space, but a perfectly unusable space for anything else. So, its not the biggest, but it is surely turning out to be my most fun layout. I started about a month or so ago.
