TSR Industrial park - layout update

First let me say my camera has been making funny noises for the past few months. I found out today that it's the pictures I have been taking screaming to get out of the camera. I am sure you know how that goes.

It's actually almost been 1 year since I last posted on the layout, and we are progressing nicely toward our two year goal, though some months are busier than others.

Great West Models

I know that they are out of business.

Does anyone know of a source of their products that may still be around.

Thanks

Question on backdrop joints

Good Morning,

I am at the juncture of putting together 8' x 16 " long pieces of 1/8 masonite as the backdrop on the layout. Where the sheets meet I inevitably have a 1/8 to 1/4 inch joint. I back the joint with a piece of plywood support that is glued and screwed. Now the question

Height Options on a second deck....

Hi and Happy New Year ( almost )
I am at a key juncture in the new layout construction.
The height of the upper deck.
Right now top of track level is 42" main deck....62" upper
I am debating lowering the upper deck to 60". basically lowering it 2".
This would give me 14.5" of lower deck clearance for scenery and such.
While it seems like a small change ( depending on your height and reach) it seems to perhaps look better from an operating stand point.

The New TSR rises.......

How time fly's.... In May I started taking down the old TSR. It stands now as an empty room painted in a neutral color, ready for the hew owner of the house. I will post a few pics soon.

On Sept 2 we moved into the new house and on Sept 9th I took the big pile of wood that I had salvaged from the old layout and re-started again. Sorry, no track plan yet, though I do have a vision I am working toward.

Here is my first 90 days of effort, combining new and old wood into the new bench work

Looking for Upper Deck design idea's

Good Morning,

I am looking for ideas on building my second ( upper ) deck on an HO layout. This is a free standing layout with no wall support. I would like to avoid fastening to the ceiling if possible.

My main area's of interest are the loop at the end of the peninsula. I anticipate the widest point of overhang will be 18" to 21" in some spots. I am using dimensional lumber.

Any suggestions and or pictures ( love those pictures ) would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Visitors to the TSR

Some foreign power made it's way across the TSR system today. So I grabbed a few quick shots with my iphone,

Crossing onto the interchange track in Fairport

Passing through Essex yard

Entering Norwich
