The 2008 NMRA Convention in Anaheim
If you've never been to an NMRA National Convention before, you may be wondering what they're all about. What can you do at one?
The National Convention has become a major annual week-long event loaded with informative, educational and inspiring hobby activities. The convention features prototype tours, tours of local layouts, op sessions on prominent layouts, educational clinics, contests, model displays ... the list goes on and on. There are so many activities it's impossibe to do it all!
Introduction
Just a quick 'hello' to the magazine and the subscribers. I am an N Scale modeler and live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Currently I have a medium sized layout, representing a fictional part of the Santa Fe empire, with about one third of the scenery completed and almost all necessary trackwork installed. I can run/operate trains more or less as I planned. It is a DC layout but wired to allow a changeover to DCC at some time.
Hi from Belgium (Europe)
Yo all,
just to introduce myself; Jappe (abreviation of my first name)43 years young and living in Belgium (Europe).
Between riding my 2 Harley's, doing my "hunny to do lists" and having fun with my 10 months old Bullmastiff "Belle", oh and offcourse , working (lol), I am an avid US of A modelrailroader; N-scale and H0-scale.
In my country it is some times frustrating when building a US of A layout, due to the availability of items. But with the comming of the World Wide Net that frustration is smoothing out, so is my credit card on times , lol.
The "face" of Model Railroad Hobbyist? Eek!
Hi there - some of you may already know me, and if you've gotten this far, all of you have seen my face. I'm the guy whose face Joe chose to grace the home page (among others) of the Model Railroad Hobbyist website.
New here
Hello, thought that I would introduce myself. I learned about this new site over at Model Trains Weathered from jbaako. I'm 41 from Fort Scott, KS and model the Frisco Railroad in two different eras, the first era is August 1929 and era 2 is 1985 to 1995. Even though the Frisco disappeared in 1980 I decided mine wouldn't be merged with the BN but instead bought the Southern Pacific in 1995 so that the company could fulfill it's namesake (St.
A tale of attending NMRA National Conventions
My first NMRA National Convention was 1987, when it was in my home stomping grounds: Eugene, Oregon.
One of the highlights of that convention for me was meeting Andy Sperandeo (Model Railroader editor) and Doug Gurin (founder of the Layout Design Special Interest Group) - suddenly these names became real people! I found the train show to be interesting, about like a glorified swap meet with vendors, but nothing to write home about.
Introducing myself
Hello MRH subscribers,
I just joined after seeing the link in the MR forum. I'm a 61-year-old retired high school chemistry teacher in Napanee, Ontario, Canada. I model CN in the mid-eighties so my locos are a mix of 1st and 2nd generation units. I suppose my one SD50F (draper taper) is actually a 3rd generation unit.
