monthly mag.
Glad to see that you are going to a monthly format - just started reading the magazine and loved the last issue - I am looking forward to many more. By the way - I am moving to a new house and will have to rebuild my railroad, I will be closely following your magazine for more ideas.

A monthly edition will be great.
The format, content and improved option for reading the editions have made it a better publication.
Keep up the varied articles and content.

Reader feedback
Great to hear you are going monthly. I suggest you put the reader feedback icon at the end of each article - it saves the user having to scoll back a few pages to find it. Feedback is more likely to be useful after reading the article. Keep it up
Plan is next issue ...
Plan is next issue to make it a standard to put the reader feedback button both at the front and at the end of the article.

MRH is going monthly!
That's great news to hear!!! Even though I'm an O guy, I love to read this publication!
Go "O"
We'd love to see articles by O scalers - be they modeling or layout. MRH is scale agnostic - it just seems to have a lot more HO in it because, well, there is a lot more HO out there to write about.

Going Monthly
I have one suggestion. Based upon my being very upset with snail mail pubs. Make sure it's available on the same day each month. You stated your intent was the 1st. That's OK, but what I'm suggesting is that if you do, make it the 1st of each and every month. Not the 1st this time and the 2nd next followed by the 31st of the same month. That way, I can set my PC to remind me on that same date. I have enough frustration with not knowing when something is going to happen. Finally, keep up the good work. I enjoy reading MRH every time it "hits the street".

Dear PN, Not what you wanted
Dear PN,
Not what you wanted to hear I'm afraid, but for the foreseeable future, MRH will be 'going public' on the 1st Monday of the month.
Regarding notification, since you're posting on this site, you would appear to be a subscriber. Are you not receiving an e-mail notification when the new issues become available? If not please let us know so we can work on that problem.

I love your magazine. There things you can do that you cant do with print medium. Especially the visual how to do it. But this leads me to my issue: I understand why you have a deadline to access the visual features but sometimes its impossible for me to make time to get through your magazine in a month. I didnt know where to put this so I put it here.
I read almost every article and review most of the ads. Click on most of them so you'll get credit.
My issue is I think you have too much of a good thing. I hope you're considering cutting back on the content so I can spend some time modeling. 8>D I dont think there will be too much disappointment if you cut back somewhat.
Great job guys.
PS, you may want consider putting the comment link at the end of the article so I dont forget to use it when I finish the article.

I tried downloading the bonus content.
I think it is somewhere on my computer, but it seems totally impossible for me to save it or find it on my computer. I have Vista. I wish I had Xp, but it wasn't available on my new computer. I have software to upgrade to windows 7, but I'm afraid of it. I'm having enough problem with Vista and don't know what windows 7 will do. Most of the things I download have given an opportunity to save the download where I want it. I downloaded Joes video on using his weathering powders, but it is so well hidden on my computer that I have no clue where to find it. I want a "save" tab on this stuff so that I can put it where I want it without suddenly being forced to become a professional computer geek.
Right click is the secret
Do a right click and select save target as ... Or save link as ...
The right click and save as brings up a save dialog and lets you put the file someplace that you know about and can easily find.
It's a shortcoming of the browser interface, unfortunately. In order to "protect" you, a browser cannot "force" a file save dialog. YOU have to initiate it..

Thanks Joe
I'll try the right click now.
Going Monthly
I am so glad to hear yo are going to be publishing on a monthly basis. MRH is one of the best things to happen to the mrr community. I have spent more time, in the last few months since starting to read MRH, on the linked web sites than I have in the last several years. After being out of modeling for 15 years, it sure is great to be back and to have MRH. Thank you and keep up the great job.
You've got 2 months to fix this.
After I play a video on MRH Theater, there is a trailing video that shows a guy with a notebook and a sun-burst with a message that reads "1000+ pages of quality articles, 100+ NEW pages bi-monthly "

How about the Nook?
Any chance of it coming to the Nook? or an embedded formate for the IPad?

Pretty sure it already works on iPad
Chris,
Since Joe now lugs his iPad everywhere I've seen him recently, I believe that with a program called "Goodreader" (note: it'sa $1.99 paid app) you can read MRH and other PDF's without difficulty on the iPad.
Does the Nook do video? I haven't taken a close look at the newest version.

Monthly editions...
Great news! I found out about you guys at the Narrow Gauge Convention in September (St. Louis) and have looked forward to each edition, plus past ones. Thanks for your efforts, and special thanks for trying the monthly program. Jim Davis
I don't know how to quote, but this is in response to Jeff's
post above. I bought a black & white Nook to take on our vacation to Hawaii a month or so ago. It is very slow with limited memory. Once it is opened to your selected book, it turns pages much faster than you could read, but it is slow to start up and open your book. I loaded a bunch of books to take with me without adding weight to my luggage. It is an e-reader. In color it could be used to read MRH and enjoy the color pictures, but I suspect that the definition won't be what your computer or an I-pad will give. I also doubt that it will have the capability to do video like an I-pad or a lap top computer. If you need a smaller format than a full sized lap top, a net book might be an alternative. I have tried the color Nook, so you might go to a Barnes & Noble to check one out. All Barnes & Noble stores have a Nook counter and wifi in the store where you can "test drive" a Nook to see if it will work for what you want to do with it.
monthly magazine
great news, more is better of this wonderful magazine resource.
thanks

MRH staff notes
Great that you are going monthly. Although I enjoy all layouts please remember HO is the predominant scale.

Vista done right
Russ, I am a XP to Vista to Win7 migrant. Vista was a disaster for me too. Win7 has been the complete opposite experience. Win7 has been excellent in all respects. I would never go back to XP now. Plus Microsoft has announced the beginning of XP support phase out. I have blocked memories of Vista out of my mind and if asked it never happened. It is too painful to think about. :(
Fear not, make the Win7 jump.
The only caution I have is installing older software and devices. There is a major difference in drivers between XP and Vista/Win7. Make sure your software and hardware has Win7 updates available. Most likely if it is working on Vista for you now it will work on Win7. Win7 is technically Vista fixed. (Vista = Windows 6.0, Win7 = Windows 6.5)
Happy computing!
Alan

You asked for articles, but I don't remember seeing anything on monetary remuneration.
Joe has repeatedly said that they pay for contributions.
The numbers that he has quoted are similar to what MR or RMC pay for similar contributions.
