DCC - Electrical
Digitrax's Product Strategy and the DCC Market
While reading the Lenz thread, I got to thinking about a discussion that I had partially had but was censored and never completed on the Digitrax groups.io group a while back. In order to avoid rambling on a thread about Lenz, I started one about Digitrax.
Proto Throttle - overseas use; any chance?
Is (or will be) there any chance to get and use a PT in Europe legally?
Older Lenz Decoder Settings
I have just received an older Atlas model that appears to have the older Lenz non sound dual mode decoder in it. It runs fine, very slow creeping speed at step 1 on 28 speed steps. HOWEVER...the locomotive makes some serious loud humming noise while it operates. I have verified the jumper is in the DCC position and I am not trying to run it on DC power. This model would be spendiforous if not for the motor hum. I have no previous experience with Lenz decoders in any scale.
I found this:

An Arduino-Based Servo Switch Machine
A while ago, I was looking for a DCC controlled switch machine for my garden railroad. My switches are hand built with some Micro Engineering G scale turnout kits. The switches were originally built with hand throws for moving the points and activating a micro-switch for powering the frog. These have served for many years but do need periodic maintenance because of the outdoor environment here in Iowa. Winters can be hard on trackwork.
TCS KA on ESU LokSound decoder-Dangerous?
I am planning on installing an ESU LokSound decoder. I have seen somewhere(maybe YouTube) that using a TCS KA on the decoder would void the warranty and that there was a danger that the TCS KA could somehow burn up the decoder.
I do not have much experience with this type of thing, this will be my first time installing a decoder, and I dont plan to jump too deeply into programing the decoder...I just have the TCS KA and I thought it would be good to use.
Thank you for any help here.
Having trouble with my Digitrax slots
Hello I am having trouble with my Digitrax System ...
I had reached slot max at 22 before; but through some fumbling by me was able to add some engines. I thought I had removed the slot max problem: I may have. I have the following PS2012 power supply, a DB150 and a DCS100 all hooked to gether with a PM42 Quad and a PM42 break out board.
Bi-color LED Marker Lights
So I've added a Lok sound 5 to an Atlas H-16-44. This loco originally came with it's own DC/DCC decoder and was supplied with directional LED marker lights (4) that were RED/Green. Each of them has 3 wires: Black Red and White
On the loksound decoder, the only way I am able to get them to light is by:
Black to Aux 1, Red or White to Common to give Red or Green respectively
New! The Motorman Automatic Reversing Train Shuttle Controller
Iowa Scaled Engineering's Motorman now available
Iowa Scaled Engineering has just released a new product called "The Motorman". The Motorman is an automatic reversing train shuttle controller for both DC and DCC locomotives. Using TrainSpotter infrared proximity detectors at each end, the Motorman will continuously drive the train back and forth, automatically stopping and reversing at the end of track. With control of the speed, locomotive address, delay time, and other settings, a fully customized experience can be created.
Experience with TCS WowDiesel WDK-ATH-7 or WDK-ATH-8 in Athearn RTR SD40 and/or SD40-2?
Just checking if others have had any issues with these. They include: 21 pin sound decoder, replacement motherboard, and a speaker and enclosure. Appears everything is the same across the two TCS kits EXCEPT the speaker enclosures.
My supplied speaker appeared to have no separation on the solder pads and it appeared the wires were wound together on their way to the coil. To be safe, I wired things up and used a different 8 ohm speaker I had on hand.
