DCC - Electrical

Short circuit (of the mind)

Before my recent hiatus from working on the layout I could have sworn I had my test version of DCC++ hooked up and running and I did at one point. I remember having to go back and catch a couple of feeder drops on some spurs and gaping some frog rails on my Peco turnouts.

Different gauges for feeder wires.

I’m making a small 4x8 HO layout and using 16 gauge wire for the DCC bus.  One black, one red.  I have some wire laying around for the feeders.  Black 22 gauge and red 20 gauge.  Is it bad to use two different gauges for feeders?  Or should I go out and buy a little more of one color or the other?

Wiring a Atlas 305 turntable for dcc

I have installed a 305 Atlas turntable and was hoping for some ideas on how to wire it for DCC. I have the decoder already hooked up to it to run the turntable, now just trying to figure out what to do with power to track. Instructions say it has a slip ring in it for reversing. Seen some different diagrams online one using auto reversing switch one saying it doesn't need it. New to DCC so I am looking for some help.

Sounds different - changing the tone of a piezo buzzer?

Good evening all,

I have some PSX circuit breaker boards with the optional piezo buzzer added. This buzzer helps notify that there is a short detected by the PSX board.

A friend of mine mentioned that he can't hear that audio range any longer and wondered if there was a way to either use a buzzer with a different pitch or change the pitch of the recommended buzzer.

Any insight into this idea/problem would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks in advance,

Tsunami2 with Current Keeper Sound Reduction

I have a Bachmann On30 Porter with a Tsunami2 decoder and Current Keeper installed. When powered by the Current Keeper the sound volume is significantly reduced (by about half). It runs the motor just fine for several seconds. This isn't a big problem as, ideally, power dropouts should be very brief. I am just curious to know if there is some fix in the decoder programming? My Google-fu and the search box yielded nothing. Thanks, David Stewart

Control Panel in a Barge

Not wanting to detract from this water front scene I was struggling with control panel design and placement.
