Problems with Lenz 3.6 upgrade and NCE ATLS4 and TTX-RS2 Decoders

I upgraded my LENZ set 100 system to 3.6. My engines worked fine before I sent the system out to be upgraded. All my engines worked fine after except a group with NCE decoders  ATLS4 and TTX-RS2 ( KRS-SR) in them. I have tried to reprogram them and changing their address , reset to default and I get one of two thing. Nothing happens or in a couple of the engines , after putting in a new address and putting it on the main track it goes at full speed with no control. Even using the stop will not shut it down.

Any ideas??

Kato 90/43 MAC and decoder

Installed relative Digitrax decoder in my loco. Before replacing body shell ran loco and it performed as expected.

Replaced body shell and all I got from the loco was a slight lights flicker.

Removed shell and it runs perfectly. Any suggestions?

Power Pax

From reading posts on here I see several members have the Power Pax power booster. A member of this board has offered me his surplus booster but doesn't have the wall transformer. Can someone check out their unit and give me the power numbers (voltage, amps) off the unit?

I don't want to centre anyone out, but will publically thank the member for his kind offer. This site has to be the best.

n scale sound

Last month I traded up from my old Lenz set 02 to a NCE powercab. As I have no sound equipped locos those horn and whistle buttons are driving me crazy! I would like to find a 4 axle diesel (1960s) that would take a sound decoder. Any ideas?

Improving performance of Bachmann On30 Porters with sound

I have a thing for little Porter locomotives...and when Bachmann announced their Tsunami sound-equipped models, I was delighted. Once running my 0-4-2 and 0-4-0 locos, however, I found they tended to stall and cut out to the point that they simply remained on the shelf.

I explored cleaning track using several high-tech options...I added pickup shoes underneath added brake detail...on and on. Nothing seemed to a) consistently solve the pickup problem while b) not adding any new problems or issues. I was stalled just like my locomotives.

Which Decoder

I have been unpacking all of my rolling stock and engines over the past week and checking them all out for performance. I came across a Rivarossi (AHM) 0-8-0 engine that was in pretty bad shape but I worked on it for 2 days and got it running. If I remember correctly I bought it in a junk box of other items and it is missing parts (2 front drive rods). Searches of the web got me the parts diagram but no parts available. So I side lined it and began unpacking more stuff. Lo and behold I came across another Rivarossi (AHM) 0-8-0 engine - brand spanking new. works like a charm.

Errant short circuit

Within the past week, I have encountered a low voltage short on my railroad. I use an NCE dcc system and have the railroad divided into 6 power districts - this short only occurs in district two - the main yard. Any locomotive that enters the district produces a nice warm glow on the cp-6 circuit protector and as you increase the throttle, the glow gets brighter.

Anyone have any thoughts before I begin the hunt this weekend?

Thanks,

Dan Spencer
