Loksound has sound, but no movement
I have 3 locomotives with Loksound decoders.
One stay alive for two decoders?
Is it possible to connect a single stay alive to two DCC decoders in the same locomotive?
For example, I am using a Tsunami2 decoder and want to add a TCS FL4 for additional lighting. I already have a TCS KA1 connected to the Tsunami. Space is at a premium, so I would like to use the same stay alive for both decoders if possible.
Thanks for the help,
Ryan
Athearn Genesis 1.5 v bulb replacement with LED
Using the factory delivered decoder I am seeing 1.5 v at the Forward head light terminals on the decoder.
I am using 0603 SMD LEDs, I have tried resistors down to 66 ohm and the LED will not light. I suspect the 1.5 V is not enough for the LEDs needed forward voltage.
I have tried resistors down to 66 ohms, no joy.
Interesting Opinions on Ever-Increasing Trottle Control Functions
There are a significant number of discussions going on over on this specialized forum. One that caught my attention basically discusses NCE system which is the one I chose long ago based on recommendations from users up in the DC/Balt region that was dominated by Digitrax early on.

Rivarossi Allegheny Loco Electrical Pickup
I have a few of these marvelous Allegheny locomotives, and recently decided to sell one of them. The buyer ask if I could test run one of them he was interested in. Since I just got my lower deck up and running, I thought why not run this test on a few of my Alleghenys, included a really heavily weather one I bought years ago and don't recall if i ever tested it.
The Model Railroad Hobbyist Machine Shop
I recently made a post over on my FM H-16-44 DCC Conversion thread about using a milling machine to shave a locomotive frame a bit to create more room for a decoder. This led to some questions about endmills, use of drill presses for light milling, and other tools like strip sanders, Dremel (and similar) rotary tools, safety around machine tools, etc. Later I made a post about small milling machines based on Sieg models, and there was some interest in the list of compatible machines posted.
Varible Engine Speeds,..automatic with DCC?
Yesterday I was finally able to run some trains around the perimeter of the lower deck layout I am building. That perimeter track involves a few ramps up one portion of my viaduct, and down another. I was test running with plain DC power, and the trains would slow down quiet a bit while climbing, and speed up while descending.
Does DCC operation do any adjusting of this engine speed automatically? ...or can it be programed to do so??
Why 2 Speakers in a tender?
What are the advantages (and disadvantages) of putting 2 speakers in the tender of a steam loco? Is it for volume? Different range? (bass vs. higher pitches)? Or what?
