Diorama Fascia Alternatives
Working on a small bridge diorama, I would like to clean up the pink foam sides with a finished look. Are there alternatives to a board fascia? Something I could smooth and level on the face and follow up with paint?
Something I have done that worked for me!
This is not a world shaking discovery. Just something I tried and have been satisfied it works - at least for me.
Portable Benchwork: How Heavy Is Too Heavy?
I am in the midst of building my portable layout benchwork. The size of the layout is approximately 3'x5'. I've opted to use 1x3 Poplar for the frame members, and 1/4" Maple Plywood for the table top. I estimate that as is, this combination weighs about 20 lbs. Ideally, I would carry the layout by itself, but if it requires two people, that's okay.
Is that too heavy?
What is a reasonable weight limit for a small, portable railroad?

Foam "ballast"
Any suggestions for marking on black foam roadbed? I've tried colored marks and the markings don't show up.I have had a little success with a white paint pen but it doesn't really stand out. Florescent marks just disappear on the foam.
Installing Facia with a Hospital Table
Installing facia on my layout, the Trenton Subdivision in N scale. I’m using 1/8 inch mahogany plywood screwed to the cross bracing. I have left room above the screws to attach a removable plexiglass shield.

Virginia Creeper moving forward slowly
For me it is a satisfying feeling to:
Do ya track plan.
Trace it on to the plywood (cookie cutter style)
Set your risers and lay the sub-roadbed and get what is in your planning program (mine Anyrail6) match the grade % and heights and to have it very consistent. Another piece in the puzzle and closer to have trains running on it. Hopefully by this weekend.

The name of Schmidt for the CSX division is named after my late grandfather who worked for the railroad for 50 years. The name of Berry for the NS division is named after a close friend of mine who honestly got me back into train both model and prototypes.
