Weathering a large scale 50' boxcar
The large scale forum that I regularly participate in (largescalecentral) has a yearly contest for 30 days. Spend no more than $30 and complete a project. Some years we get a theme, other years it's what ever we want. This year the challenge was open whatever you want. Rules are simple.
1. Have fun
2. Spend no more than $30, you get 1 'free' bottle of paint, and 1 'free' thing of glue.
3. Anything you have on hand prior to Jan. 1 is considered free.
Many projects for 2019. What are yours ???
Lot of modeling projects course.
But the biggest to me is the decision to emigrate in Canada in the next comming months ( wait for my papers in fact)

URGENT! Someone is calling, saying they are from Comfort Inns and they are having computer problems with the reservation system for the 26 the and 27th. To keep your reservation they need you to give them your credit card number for verification. HANG UP!
Follow the Amhurst Sponsor logo go to Accommodations get the hotel number and call them. They are aware of the phishing. They will give you the police number to report the call. They will not ask for your CC number. If you gave out CC number call your card provider.

Firing Up The Chainsaw
I'm not really using a chainsaw. I stared pulling the structures and details off the layout for reuse. This cleared up a section that was ready to be torn out. There was some sawing and pounding. My wife came down and asked me if I was sad. I said no this was a good thing. She left and came back a little while later to remind me to take a break I was getting frustrated.
Grit City Railroad
I am starting my second layout and wanted to blog my progress. I had fun practicing on my old layout but got to a point where I don't want to put any more effort into it. I've read list upon list of mistakes people make with their layouts and I have made everyone of them. I am glad I did. It allowed me to learn how to fix them, and get better with my skills. I know what I like and don't like, what works for me and what doesn't.
Re-writing history
Re-writing history is a subject near and dear to most of us. Some of you are pure free-lance while others are strict prototype. I think that most of us fall in between these two extremes. While I claim to be a prototype modeler, I am not strict in how I go about it. For example, I model Sturgis MI set in 1927. I am building a locomotive that never visited Sturgis. It is a Boston and Albany (a component of the New York Central) USRA 2-10-2. The B&A had ten of these beasts. All remained on the B&A between the namesake cities until being sold to the CP in 1928.
"Safety First" Herald/Decal in HO
Does anyone know of a source for "Safety First" Herald decals that would be appropriate size for an HO scale water tower? I've seen them before on a model, perhaps they were custom made, but I can seem to find any commercially available.
Thanks,
Lou
