how do i power this terminal track
any idea how i connect my railpower train power pack to the track in the pic below i have the layout set up but have no idea how to get power to the track below is a pic of the only terminal track i have its atlas code 80

Colorado Front Range HO scale - sensors & setting them up in JMRI
So You was to place signals on your Modelrail road.....Well you are going to need so way to detect your trains. let's look at what you will need the short series will will look into senors and setting them up in JMRI .

questions about power packs
ok so recently i was gifted some old n scale trains and track by my father. not 100% sure but im gonna guess the trains and track are from the 60's-70's and being new to the hobby im wondering do i need to buy an older transformer/power pack seeing as how the trains and track are from the 60's-70's or will a new one released last year work im kinda in the dark on this
to help date the items some models of buildings in balsa wood were included when he gifted me the trains
also the track is plain no plastic road bed under it
Motorizing sector plate - circuit needed
I have a 2-position sector plate in the HO micro layout I am building (loosely based on the Box St. Yard plan). I would like to automate this - something like two buttons on the control panel - push one and it goes to one side and stops, push the other and it swings back again. The actual motorization seems easy enough, just need a slow speed-high torque motor to swing an arm to push and pull it just like the current manual lever, with a couple of lever-style micro switches to tell it to stop at each end. It only moves an inch or so.

Wide area IR detection
Here’s my idea:
Place IR-LEDs in the layout’s lighting valence – driven, perhaps,
by a picaxe at 38kHz (the freq. used by tv remotes). This will
flood the layout with IR – but should be easy to differentiate
from background light since it’s not only IR but at 38kHz pulses.
Losing power in a DC reversing loop
I have a reverse loop run by an Atlas controller (yes we still exist!) my old Athearn Blue box engines slow down tremendously in that section, while my newer Atlases run fine. I’m thinking upgrading to a more powerful power pack but am I missing something here? Thanks!
Looking at getting soldering paste
I've been looking at purchasing soldering paste for a bit for trackwork (joiners, handlaid switches, etc.). My current go-to is rosin-core 63/37, 0.015" diameter, from Kester. It works fine on DCC installs and circuit boards, but it's pretty poor at putting together rails. Any advice? What's your favorite type?
LED for DC block indicator on control board
I'm new to model railroading, less than a year. I have a DC HO scale setup that is divided into 3 blocks. I plan to run two trains simultaneous. I am in the process of making the control panel. I was able to wire LEDs to indicate direction of travel for the switches. Now I would like to wire LEDs to indicate which train the block is powered to run. Since the voltage is variable, how do I wire the LEDs?

Dead rail — pros and cons
Okay, dead rail is often mentioned like it’s some kind of model railroading silver bullet. Rather than be so romantic about dead rail, let’s talk about the REAL pros and cons.
What is it about dead rail that is seen as such a benefit? And let’s get beyond the hype ... can you really never attach any feeders ever to a dead rail layout? And let’s hear from more than the dead rail wanna-bees, let’s hear from actual dead rail users! Is less wiring really the only advantage?

DCC Rant
Ok So I have a quick rant. The sound decoder offer got me thinking. That is a nice deal for folks to trade out the older decoders in their rosters. Great deal. However it does nothing for a guy like me that doesn't own a DCC system or anything with a decoder. I have looked at systems. Even thought about Building one with an Arduino Mega. Then Looked at the cost of adding Decoders to all my locos and just can't justifiy the cost. By the way I model in N Scale. I can't even take any of my stuff to the Local Club I am thinking of joining because it is PURE DCC.
