Splitrock Mining Company begins ore operations
It is set in the years 1968 to 1972. All motive power is Alco, for now. There will be one non ore train a day to service the few industries and mine supply spurs. The Vermillion Range Freight, or VRF. One interchange with he DMIR and maybe the DWP, will be the connection to the outside world.
GEFN
GEFN? What the heck is that? Well, it's Good Enough For Now. The concept of "Good Enough" in model railroading has been around for some time and it a wonderful concept to keep us from going detail crazy and mired down in one area while other areas suffer. I understand Good Enough, but I want more - thus the GEFN.
From the MRH Publisher - Hobby Magazines and the Future
Over on one of the N scale forums there's been a lot of discussion about what's going on with the paper magazines and what that all means for the future of the hobby.
As the publisher of MRH, I track this closely and I have some insight that may help.
For years, the paper magazines have been declining in circulation. Looking at the two leading model railroading magazines, Model Railroader and Railroad Model Craftsman, you can see MR peaked about 1993 and RMC has been steadily dropping since 1980:
Model railroading is expensive but so sre nuclear powere aircraft carriers
I just read an thread about how expensive model railroading can be. And I see a direct parallel between building nuclear powered aircraft carriers and model railroading.
No some of you may wonder whether I have finally gone off my rocker with this comment. Well I don't own a rocker so I obviously can't get off it but et me explain myself.
An F7 in the basement...!
Went on the NMRA Lansing Legacies 2011 layout tours. There were many impressive layouts with a lot of talented modelers showing layouts. I have to say though .....This REALLY impressed me.I will be uploading videos and slideshows on my channel so check em out if you like.

Finally found a photo of a WWII Halifax Harbour Crane for SWE
Sooo. I must have/make this crane. I've done some preliminary searches and have not yet found a reasonable model that can be used as a starting point for a kit-bash. Any ideas out there or am I going to have to scratch build this thing?
