A Hidden Advantage of Model Railroading
Spring time in Northern Georgia where I live is especially beautiful and as I was out today it occured to me that I enjoy it much more since becoming a model railroader. When I started to think about why this was so, it was clear that it is a result of developing "a model railroader's eye".
Amazon.com sells trains. . .
I was shopping on Amazon.com for something unrelated to trains and did a search on Athearn and a whole bunch of entries came up. The prices are very competitive with other leading online retailers. I have not bought anything from Amazon recently but it the mrr items are processed by hobby shops that have contracted with Amazon
Power in numbers - Richlawn RR expansion
For the first year or so I was a loner on building my railroad - not by choice, but I just hadn't connected with other model railroaders. While the hobby was fun, I knew something was missing...and that something was other model railroaders! I had a friend invite me to a meeting of the Piedmont Division of the NMRA in the Atlanta area and I was at first hesitant as it was a 1-1/2 hour drive. I attended the meeting, and to my surprise there were over ninety other model railroaders there! I had a blast and made some new friends.&nbs
Building the Helix - The Base
Not that long ago, I started construction of the helix for my multi-deck layout. I had read many different variations of construction techniques, and thought I'd add mine to the list.
THis evening my wife and I...
This evening my wife and I went down to the laundry room to do do the wash. After putting the clothes in the washing machine we went into the train room and looked at what I was working on. She knew of the buildings I was planning and had built to be named for my daughter's in law and at the one I was working on for her. She then asked me if I was going to do one for her mother.
I haven't been doing much lately
I haven't been doing much in recent weeks primarily because the situation at home has not been conducive to it. You see my mother-in-law had a coronary and between the week she spent in the hospital and her death and funeral, no one ay home has felt like doing much.
