Custom modeled freight cars and other N and HO models

I have been practicing my CAD skills over the past few years, and recently, I decided to design freight cars, detail parts, and other models. As an N scale modeler, I have been involved in the hobby for many years now and have noticed that there is a certain limit manufacturers reach when producing models: only a certain amount of new models can be researched, CADed, tooled, manufactured, and released every year.

Highway Markings

The question of highway markings comes up every so often.  I came across this issue of "The History Guy" that talks about highway markings and might be handy.

Fate

In one of the other threads there was some discussion of railroads  in previous years.  So I got out my 1928 Offical Guide to look where some of the early railroads ran.  I purchased it used at a train show.

While I was using it, noticed something that made me realize that the book was destined for a model railroader to own:

Armoured train ideas

I’ve been looking over the ideas of getting and running armoured trains, as they are planned to make up a bulk of the White Lion Railways fleet.  Many would probably have to be custom built as well.  I’m looking at some freelance designs as well as prototypical designs.  Any ideas for service outside of a war zone?

HO scale DCC operating CNJ steam crane (and wreck train) build. The journey.

After a lot of back and forth with myself I decided to strip the repaint the cab with the correct decals to the era I model as well as changing out the digitrax decoder for an ESU loksound micro. I then added a custom made sound set I created using their software and lokprogrammer.

Copper king mine has a mill area, but nothing like the two large mill for the Utah Copper (Kennecott) Bingham canyon mine, I will show them both.

1986 UP Condensed T-Plan

I have added images of the 1986 UP Condensed Transportation Plan to my web site wnbranch.com.  It is a summary of all the regularly scheduled through freights on the UP in May of 1986.  The document lists the trains in alphabetical order , then gives the departure time at origin and the arrival time at final destination.
