Operating shelving for card sorting, more weathering
I have another detailed blog posting here - giving an overview of my steam locomotive weathering techniques, and my designs for card-sorting shelves in (on? under? near?) the benchwork. Enjoy!

Video - test train up Keystone Hill (toward Telluride)
Let's try posting a video - this is test train on newly-scenic'd area, coming off the Ophir low-line, through what will be Vance Jct, and starting a 4% climb on the branch to Telluride.
Not sure this will work - but let's try...
Rio Grande Southern (RGS) - Google map to old right-of-way (ROW)
I have created a Google map of the route of the RGS - showing where the ROW was, overlaid on a modern map with current roads, etc:

Durango roundhouse wall kits - available again in HO and S
Monster Model Works yesterday announced they're re-producing their Durango roundhouse walls in HO scale and S scale for a limited time. Cost is $120 for HO scale and $170 for S scale. If you haven't seen Jimmy's brickwork, it is amazing quality.
Durango models for the D&RG or RGS layouts are hard to find, so these are work checking out if that's your prototype. Links and details:
Podcast time!
Perhaps some of you have heard of the podcast - A Modeler's Life? Lionel Strang started it a couple years, talking to model railroads about life, trains, and lots of (sort-of) related topics.
The current full episode this week features me!

Gordon Gravett books on grass, trees - excellent!
Not much layout work in the last week or two - due to lots of work, plus happy stuff like graduations. But I have finally gotten a few books on grass and trees by Gordon Gravett - generally not available in the US but by far the best I've found.
Mancos mine completed, glass windows
Another new blog post - this time with a ton of photos from my completed mine buildings for my town of Mancos; these are based on pair of Campbell kits. And also - photos and descriptions of how I learned to use glass for my windows.
I'll just include one photo here, but all the rest are my blog site:

Another structure, and a new FB page for my layout
I've created a new FB page to make discussion and sharing of my modeling easier, and create a kind of permanent repository for lots of photos. I updated my own blog with some of the reasons for creating the page:

The new FB page is here:
