WIP Update #1: Intermodal Yard on Trenton Subdivision in N Scale
Rail laid and glued, terminal wires in place and channels cut to hide them. Scene temporarily attached to layout and powered and tested. All track and turnouts working great, no shorts or dead spots. Engine easily pulls/pushes cars in/out of the intermodal yard from the mainline. Next step, laying rails for overhead gantry crane and building concrete pads.
Plan for Intermodal Yard -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale
After a few days of "trial and error" I have decided on a final design for the Intermodal Yard on my layout, The Trenton Subdivision in N scale.
I decided to keep to the basics to create a modest intermodal area capable of both container and trailer operations without taking over the entire layout. I used AnyRail 6 to design the schematic.
Starting an Intermodal Yard on my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale
Comments/suggestions wanted. Taking advantage of some "free" time over the holidays, I have roughed in the area that I planned for an Intermodal Yard on my layout. I have several trailer units that I have custom built with various Canadian transport companies. I take a photo of the prototype, then crop out everything except the trailer side.

I airbrushed several very light coats of Humbrol Clear Gloss Varnish on the Kato shell in preparation for applying decals.
