Weekly Photo Fun -- September 12th to September 18th

As we in Southern Alberta have decided to skip fall and head straight into winter, its time to start up this weeks photo thread.

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

For the Love of Trains

I found this video (link below) inspirational and interesting in its implications for both what trains mean to people and the possible future of the Hobby.   Enjoy

I found the above while doing some research on why Japan started the 'Drive on the Left side of the road'. Its because Britain set up their train systems, Who knew?

Snapshots From Thursday Kansas City NNGC 2014

These pics are from Thursday during the National Narrow Gauge Convention, from the Contest Room and one layout I visited. They are in no particular order, nor do they represent all the models entered or even present at the time I was there.  Most if not all are just plain stunning in person. These will give you a snapshot, I'll add the rest as comments to follow. I hope you enjoy them. (Most you can click on and get the larger pic) --Geoff Bunza

Shipbuilding Industry for a Layout

I have found some incredible photos of a shipbuilding industry that relied heavily on the Canadian Pacific Railway for its operations.  The advantage to us layout builders is this shipbuilding industry could fit on almost any size layout.

Temporary dioramas

Like many model railroaders, I have always much more modeling ideas than I can put into practice due to limitations in time and space. An interesting solution is to make temporary dioramas by arranging models for photo shoots in a temporary scene. This provides also a good opportunity to test the appearance of a specific scene before making a permanent layout. All my temporary dioramas are in TT scale.
