Ontario South Central Railway

Hello, my name is Brad Ketchen. I am a musician, music engineer, sound editor and composer living in the Greater Toronto area. I say the GTA as my Girlfriend and I are moving to a condo in Toronto. This creates a dilemma, as I figure out the future of my railroad, Ontario South Central Railway and accomodating it in our new living space. Luckily, my girlfriend understands the need for a room to relocate the OSCR as well as my current location of the railroad on the adjacent wall to my recording work station.

Athearn Genesis SD 75 Truck question

I am working on a SD 75 by Athearn. It is a undecorated model. I need to know how to take the trucks apart for paint. I have them off, but can not figure out how to remove the side trucks. Can someone please point me to some directions or tell me how?

Thanks Alan

N-scale DL-109 Converted to DCC

This short video is of the new 2013 Walther's/Lifelike N-scale DL-109.  It has been upgraded to run in DCC with a hardwired Digitrax DZ-125 decoder.  This engine is a re-release of the previous 2006 edition and is not DCC friendly (as everyone thought it would be since the HO version was re-engineered to be DCC friendly) thus requiring a hardwired installation.  I did not perform the install myself but had a professional do the install at the cost of $30 plus shipping/insurance. I provided the decoder.

What's the lowdown on Walther's Trainline?

I see lots of these engines for sale. How do they stack up against other locos, and what would be considered an equivalent engine from another manufacturer in terms of detail & running quality?

Proto 2000 PA problems

I have a Proto 2000 PA circa 1999. It has performed flawlessly for years. Recently it has a problem when pulling a train. It bucks like one might expect with dirty track or a spit axle (I've replaced many of them with my vast Proto fleet). I took it apart and cleaned the truck towers and relubed the gears (I believe with Labelle No. 108). It still does the same thing. The unit has been DCC'd with an 8 pin plug, program and play decoder many MANY years ago. Can anyone lead me in a different direction?

Almost There!

On Monday, the UPS guy put the latest test-print of my N scale Metra F40PHM-2 into my eager hands.  I had hoped that this one would be "all systems go" and I could release the model for sale on Shapeways.  The parts fit together beautifully; and the print quality is about as good as I can reasonably expect from the medium.  However, while examining the model, I noticed that the side doors on the shell don't line up with the steps on the frame.  So I'll need to make one final adjustment and test-print before calling it finished.

How much did an SW9 cost brand new?

Does anybody know how much did and EMD/GMD SW9 cost brand new?

The reason being is when the city of London went shopping for diesels to replace the [not in fact] "worn out"  L&PS electric equipment they deemed the SW9 too expensive and bought G12 export model, and I just want to know if city council was being excessively cheap (as usual) or there was a substantial price difference

- In 1954 a new G12 cost about $145,000

Thanks in advance, Skoti
