Shorting Sunset Models Brass O-8

Hello everyone.

I am a novice at brass locos and I have just bought a Sunset Models Great Northern O-8 class. I have the issue of the driving wheels shorting out the test track when attached with the rods. The wheels are fine but once I install the rods it begins to short. I have done everything I can find on the internet to "fix" the issue.

Does anyone have any solutions or have a suggestion for someone to fix it for me?

help to identify N scale loco Arnold Serie 2

I came across some model freight trains of my late father. And could use some assistance identifying the loco in the pic. It runs!. I'm still learning the wheel nomenclature.

Is this an 0-6-0?

The middle two wheels don't drive but not sure if that is just a model difference or if original was built same way?

Name?

As always, thanks in advance for review and comment. This is always a very helpful forum.

Loco Limping Under Load

I've got a HO scale Manuta 2-6-6-2T that I'm hoping to use as the basis for an On30 conversion.  However, it has a rather unusual problem.  When I put the plastic chassis on it, the locomotive runs smoothly.  But as soon as I put any weight on it (such as the body), it starts to perform poorly.  It'll limp along the track, and the motor will even stall at some points.

Bachmann 4-8-4 Northern

I ended up with 3 of these late model Bachmann 4-8-4 Northerns. They really are nice looking engines, and they appear to run real nice, and pull real nice.

Please show us your Mallets, Garratts, and other articulates.

Well, its officially been (almost) a month since I started this series, and to celebrate that achievement, we have moved on from smaller locomotives (for the time being) to focus on the great articulate locomotives of the world.  I know what you're all thinking.  "Finally!  About time we get to show something B

O Gauge Lionel loco internal driver ID, Trouble shoot

Please see attached pics.

Can someone help me identify vintage...and likely required source voltage. I'm thinking it's 17-24V   AC, but applied that with no response. Likely DOA but if any troubleshooting suggestions, would appreciate. Manually, One set of wheels turns freely (with resistance). The other turns, then locks up.

appreciate the review/input. Thx!

Narrow gauge steam, tender...how to test / troubleshoot

Hello all,

Please See pics. Received this from my dad. It appears that it uses tender for power circuit, though I can't get it to run. I've connected variable 24VDC (+ and -) to various points with no results so may in fact be DOA. However, was wondering if any out there could suggest a couple of connection points to know for sure. I'm getting some buzzing contacting around the tender trucks....but that's it.

Appreciate the input!!

Please show us your Moguls, Consolidations, and Decapods

Well, it's that time again!  This week we will focus on Consolidations, along with other locomotives of the 2-?-0 variety (including 2-6-0 Moguls, 2-10-0 Decapods, and the rare 2-4-0).  My example for this week is actually one of my dad's locomotives that he gave me permission to use for this blog post.  It's an On30 Spectrum Consolidation that dad bought when the two of us began to develop an interest in narrow gauge.  Someday, it is
