Scene Design: 19th Century Gold/silver mining operations (some questions)

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of designing a trackplan for my small island type layout. While trying to do so, (will start a separate thread on the trackplan), i need to figure out some things concerning gold/silver (can consider copper if needed) mining ops, and specifically during 1870-1890.

A 2' gauge steam railroad in Myanmar (Burma) videos shot in 2013

friend of mine who has done some work in Myanmar sent me links to some videos shot in Myanmar of a 2' narrow gauge railroad.

This video is of a mining railroad. The operating practices would cause an OSHA inspector here in the USA to pass out from shock. I especially liked the way they sanded the rails! This is the first of a four part series.

Searching for a Smokebox Front - 92" in diameter

I'm in the process of restoring several brass locomotives to operation and need some help with a part!

I am looking for an HO scale USRA-type Smokebox Front that is 92" in diameter.  It will be fitted to a Western Pacific Mikado and is the last item in a significant chain of work on this model.  I have checked with Greenway, Precision Scale, and searched EBay without luck.

Anyone having one that they could part with, please contact me!

HO scale Tyco / Mantua 4-6-0 Rogers for a Back to the Future Vignette

I'm thinking about picking up an HO Scale 4-6-0 Rogers by Mantua or Tyco.   I'm aware of the shortcomings of the tooling and that the engine would fit better on an Sn3 layout than HO.  But I'm BN guy at heart with a soft spot for all things 1980s.

Walthers Mainline Locos

Has any one notice if they set their walthers mainline  locos speed to a over 70 mph they get a buzzing noise seems to come from the wheel gears or motor. I've noticed it on many walthers mainline locos. Probably why they gear them to run at 65 mph by default.
