Bradford Valley Lumber Company #8 - Construction Continues
Hi all,
I've managed to get a bit more done on Bradford Valley Lumber Company #8, an On30 2-6-6-2T I'm scratchbuilding in styrene.
I've added the bands and domes to the boiler, as seen here:
Bradford Valley Lumber Company #8 - A Scratchbuilt Logging 2-6-6-2T
Hi all,
This is my first blog post here, so I'll say a bit about me and my railroad, first. My name's Daniel, and I'm a keen model railroader living in Queensland, Australia. I've modelled in N, HOn3 and HO, before finally settling on On30 as the scale for me. I'm modeling a freelanced logging railroad, the Bradford Valley Lumber Co. in On30. It's set in the Pacific Northwest United States, during the 1940s and 1950s.

How to distinguish a newer Bachman On30 porter
I am looking at buying a On30 Bachman Porter from e-bay but I believe they have been improved etc over the years, how can I tell which are the newer ones.
Do the numbers on the end of the box give an indication
Cleaning / Lubing Tyco Clementine Steam Loco
I have an old Tyco Steam Loco - Clementine - that I'd like to clean and Lube after 20 years of being in a box. What products should I use to clean and lub it? It barely runs due to dirt on the wheels and I'm sure it needs cleaned and lubed. thanks...
Project 80085
The 1957 Lionel Girls Train set was a interesting experiment. While not commercially successful it is prized by collectors. I would submit that its commercial failure was that the pink steam locomotive did not have any context.
Today, October 1st, we will see a parade of pink baseball bats, pink sneakers and pink towel in all the professional sports arenas. Pink trimmed race cars circle the race tracks of the US in October. In this spirit of support, we now have a context for a pink steam locomotive and the foundation for Project 80085.
DCC for Vintage Steam
I have a Westside Southern Pacific MT 5 steam locomotive that has been upgraded to a can motor and constant lighting using a diode bridge across the motor leads. This powers a 1.5v bulb mounted in the headlight with an MV lens. It looks and works great.
I would like to add a DCC controller with sound, specifically a Tsunami heavy steam 1 amp unit. There is plenty of room in the tender for the decoder and a speaker. I would like to reduce the number of wires between the engine and tender.
