DCC - Electrical
Arduino Noob
The Arduino is an open source hardware and software hobbyist platform that has huge grass roots support here on MRH and worldwide. It has such huge potential at a reasonable price that I couldn't stop thinking about how to implement or exploit this on my layout. Peter in NZ has encouraged me to get going with this and so, successes (I hope) or failures will be posted here along with links to other sites of interest. Please follow along and feel free to post thoughts, experiences, and links of interest.
DCC Uncoupers - Let's talk about them!
So there was a post about a fascinating product that disappeared, so let's try again...
DCC uncouplers are coming!
This video is from August 2015:
There is a website for the product but no English content so far: http://www.smart-coupler.com/
There is however a Japanese page: http://www.smart-coupler.com/#!homejapanese/cmil
Builders in Scale 1001 SM-1 SwitchMaster Switch Machine
Hi I purchased a Builders In Scale 1001 SM-1 SwitchMaster Switch Machine. It is a stall motor type and I need to mount it on a Free-Mo Module that has to be operated from both sides of the module. Since this is a Junction module it needs to be as flawless as possible or easily repaired on the spot. So the best I can figure is to wire in pair of 3 way electrical switches on the facial one on each side, but is that the best way?

Truck wire
I just installed digitrax decoder in an ho kato nw2, wired the trucks direct using decoder wire . Problem is it continually breaks at the truck solder joint. Is there a super flexible multi strand wire available or can someone recommend a wire and gauge. Thanks
Please help with programming engine
I have a Kato n scale P42 with a drop-in TCS decoder (K0D8-A). I'm programming it using JMRI.
My goal is to get the ditch lights I just installed to stay on steady, or to pulse in an alternate fashion
I can get them to pulse, but I can't figure out how to also program them to stay on if that's what I want.
Here's my current setup:

Railpro
I would like to know form anyone who uses this system if they also have a DCC command station installed on the layout were they run both systems together. The reason I ask is i have read in a few places and even on Ring Engineering web site that there loco modules in a loco can be run on a DCC layout using their controller. I am currently setting up my layout with a Digitrax DB150 command station and have started to set up sections using the PM42.
Fun with SMD LEDs
I was excited by some videos I saw about using SMD LEDs for lighting in locomotives. I knew I wanted to try this and looked around online for the sizes etc... of SMDs. I found an excellent image that shows visually what the sizes are in comparison.

Programming Track setup
I am planning a very small layout and want to be able to have a programming track. Reading Allan Gartner's Wiring for DCC website (http://www.wiringfordcc.com/) and his section on programming track he warns of having a situation where a locomotive runs onto the programming track while it is set to programming mode. He suggests a dead zone to prevent this from happening. An alternative to the dead zone is to shut the rest of the layout completely off. That works for me with such a small layout here is the wiring diagram using a double throw quad pole toggle.
