HO Bachman RF 16 Decoder install

I have recently puchased an HO Bachman Baldwin RF 16 and although it comes with a decoder installed I would like to install the Tsunami 608A Tubo decoder in it. I bought both the A and the B and plan to install the Tsunami in one engine and consist it with the other unit using the existing decoder.

I have never installed a decoder and wonder if someone can tell me where I can find a tutorial showing the necessary steps and modifications. Thanks in advance for the help.

1 grade crossing that will be fully automated

I plan on to have  (for a start) only one fully automated grade crossing. I want to use the Walthers signals, can anyone suggest me what to use as for circuit board, optical detector, etc

I might also consider doing all my accessories on dc, with a separate power pack, is this a good idea?

I am in DCC  as for track and locos

Planning for the future... Occupancy Detection & Power Blocks

Great news today!  I sold my house (in only 3 weeks!)!  The planned moving date is September 30th, so I am planning on starting the new layout mid-October once we get settled at the new house.  I posted the first section of the plan about a week ago (here), and have made very minor changes, but it follows the prototype exactly, just compressed it a little.

Sound Decoder Install

I own several Atlas S1/S2 switchers and I'm gathering information about installing a decoders/sound decoders in them.  I've found some information on-line but much of it is sketchy and seems a bit out-dated.

Soundtraxx recommends using their AT-1000 sound decoder.  However, this is an RTR decoder and all installs I've read about so far use wired decoders and a RTR decoder seems like it wouldn't fit.

Adding sound to an N scale loco

I had initially planned to do this to submit as an article for MRH, but it didn't quite work out.  However, so much effort was put in to it and I'm so happy with the results, I just had to do a blog about it to hopefully encourage others to just try something, even when you don't have a clue.  Again, I'll keep this opening short so it won't be long to scroll through if it gets to multiple pages.

What DCC system do you use - and why?

I'm curious what DCC system various modelera on here are using, and why? I think the discussion could be useful - so post a bit about the system you use and how you came to chose it. Also if you have any interesting learnings, that's always helpful!

Digitrax Question- Direct Home Wiring and Detection

I plan on purchasing the 5A Super Chief Duplex system for running my layout. I also plan on using their BDL168 detection boards for my hidden staging and DS64's to throw my turnouts.

When reading the pdf manual for the detection boards, Digitrax states that Home wiring is the best method. This makes sense to me, but their diagram doesn't make sense (or at least it isn't clear). It shows a typical installation for a detector board with Direct Home and Whole Layout Common wiring. I can't understand (from their diagram) where the differnce is between the two. See below:

Athearn MP15 Decoder problems

I have a Athearn MP15 that I bought used at a swap meet last year and I'm having some decoder issues that I can't seem to fix using Decoder Pro.  Plus, no instruction sheet was included unfortunately. Here's the problem:

DCC Reverse Loop Question

I'm in the process of building a DCC layout that has one reverse loop with a passing siding coming into it and a spur leading off of it (total of two turnouts within the loop. I know how to wire a pure loop but not one with the above. I'm planning on using a Lenz automatic reversing unit. Would someone explain how this is done? Thanks.
