lighting question on nce dasr decoder
ok so i got a handful of 3v surface mount led in the mail the other day. I have a bunch of locos with the nce dasr decoder in them. my question is with pads 3,4,5. Are they set up to wire in a 3 volt led or do they need a resistor in it? If they need a resistor what size resistor do I need to not blow out these leds. I only have a minamum amount of these little leds and dont want to fry them right out of the bag. Any help is greatly appreciated

Bell cv’s for ESU loksound

Uses for decoder functions
Hey there. I'm currently adding a DCC decoder to an athearn GP38. I'm using a 4-function decoder (because that's what I have laying around). I've connected the front and rear headlight and it seems a waste to not put the other two functions to use.
Thoughts I'm pondering: Cab lighting. Illuminated the number boards (both front and back). Ditchlights-I would need to add the castings, but that could be done.
What do people use additional functions for? This is a non-sound decoder.
DCC Turnouts
Hello fellow modellers,
Finally done with the turnout DCC decoders, programming and including them in the Railroad Controller Bronze (this is available from www.freiwald.com). I also tried to use JMRI, but so far I am only comfortable with it for loco decoder programming.
The decoder for the switches was constructed using Dr. Geoff Bunza's proposal. Unfortunately as far as I know these Arduino decoders up till now only work in the 2 digit range.
Decoder for Con-Cor HO scale Galloping Goose
I just got a HO scale Con-Cor Galloping Goose (DC) and I'm interested in installing a DCC decoder and possibly sound as well. I'm a novice so I don't have any idea on the best and/or most economical decoder. Plus how realistic is it for someone with no experience to attempt the installation? Any advice out there?

Part 3 of my tutorial on building an N Scale Signal Kit by Showcase Miniatures. Follow along as I start my build of a single head block signal, showing you how I assemble the kit.
In Part 3 of my tutorial I show you how I add wires, connect a resistor and test the LED, ready for mounting on the layout.
In Part 4 of my tutorial I will show you how I add the signal to the layout and connect it to the signal system.

This video is in 2 sections - in Section 1 I show you how to remove and clean the parts, then how to assemble the signal.
In Section 2, coming in the next two days, I will show you how I install the LED, complete adding the final parts of the signal and paint the signal ready for mounting on the layout.

JMRI - decoder programming "best practice" question
I am about to start programming a Tsunami 2 1100 sound decoder and I have a question about what is "best practice" when using JMRI on a brand new decoder.
Can I assume that JMRI has the "correct" defaults pre-loaded, or should I load all sheets from the new decoder before I start changing CV values?
Thanks in anticipation ......

Nce Question
Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a NCE power cab DCC starter system, and like it very much. I'm starting to program up some engines, the system reference manual is good, but is there an any other programming guides out there? I'm going to ask the my operating group if anyone uses the NCE system, have not come across one yet. I'm not the most tech savvy person I know!!
Best, Scott
