Keep the lights on

I maintain a G gauge RR at two restaurant locations. I have a problem keeping the lights on in the passenger cars and cabooses (cabeeses?). Pickups are from the factory wipers or fed from the wheels to an axle terminal, I know clean track is a must but I still get flickering in the lighted cars. There is no problem with locomotive lights. These trains run anywhere from 12 to 14 hours or more per day 7 days a week. Between 20 and 30 years of operation these engines have finally given up the ghost, seven out of eight have died.

LED wiring question

I was wondering if it would be possible to power small LEDs using DCC track voltage. I wanted to use the DCC track bus wiring to power a Tomar dwarf signal that contains small LED lighting.

SMA33 Working Single Axle HO Traction Motors: Success at Cajon Pass

Prototype diesel-electric locomotives use a diesel engine driving an electric generator to power DC (or more recently AC) motors wrapped around a single axle of a wheelset. The equivalent is not usually found in HO scale… until now. There is a story behind this, with a path leading in unanticipated directions. A “working” HO single axle traction motor can be built. This bit of experimental modeling starts here, but this is likely not the end of the story.

Touch control panel for pennies = literally

I mentioned in another threadf that you can build a touch-control panel, using capacitive touch, very cheaply.

What I have in mind is a small panel, 4 x 6 inches or so, with pennies and a single wire to  each functioning as capacvitive touch sensors, servos operating the turnouts (and, a factory gate, in my case) all working through an Arduino. I'm be using an Arduino Uno because it's what I have on hand, but you could use a Nano  as well.

Can I power an N scale Just Plug vehicle with the MRC Light Genie without adding a resistor?

I have a few N scale vehicles similar to this:

https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/JP5621

Can I power them directly using an MRC Light Genie without adding a resistor to the LED in the car?

Aircraft Warning Beacon

Can anybody recommend a ready to go aircraft beacon with this effect for HO scale? I was hoping to not put a lot of work in on it.

Bachmann GE 44 and 70 ton loco interiors

I'm considering buying a Bachmann GE 44-ton and/or 70-ton HO loco. The ones I have my eye on are non-DCC, because I plan to build my own radio-controlled dead-rail system. What I'm trying to determine in advance is how much space I can expect to find inside. I have one larger Bachmann loco (GP38? Not sure) which has a single powered 4-wheel truck, and unpowered 4-wheel truck, and lots of empty space inside.
