bli n&w 2-6-6-4 paragon is there problems with these?
is there any problems with locomotives? like gears cracking or anything else? might buy more get rid of some of my brass that doesn't run too well. i have been out of the hobby since 2008 had numerous back operations feel better getting back into working on my layout again. any other info would be helpful i'm running dc power. thanks for any help. bill
Any suggestions on a good power pack to control layout lighting?
Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone had any recomendations for a power pack to control only the lighting on my layout. I have been using an MRC tech 4 witch has been fine up till now. When I try too add more lights it goes into overload mode and shuts off. Should i just get an additional pack or is there one out there that will do all the lights by itself? Thanks for any input.

What is the right gauge wire to run for you bus and for your accessories. I dont know if I should go with DC or DCC.
I beleive DC is easier and cheaper.
Electronic Components
Does anyone know where to purchase components (ie: diodes, resistors, transistors, wire, etc) beside Radio Shack? There was a day when you could walk into an electronic supply store and pick up all these items for constructing an electric project.
Sound for DC analog block/cab control (non DCC) layout?
I have a moderately large DC cab control non DCC layout that I would like to equip with sound. Is there anybody else out there who still is not into DCC? I hear about dual mode DCC devices that run on both DC and DCC systems. I have also heard about the Tech6 power supply that is supposed to give sound to DC layouts. I have no idea whether these devices really work on DC layouts to provide locos with sound. Are there any other DC modellers out there that have installed sound on their DC layouts?

See what I did there? The progress in question relates to fast clocks. I finally made sufficient headway on the dispatcher's office to install the fast clock master module. Wiring Traffic Gates
I need help to wire up two road gates at a road crossing. The layout is Lionel with 2 main parallel tracks using 3-rail track. The layout has 2 power packs, one for each main line. I need the road gates to operate (gates go down to block traffic when a train approaches), one gate on each side of the two main tracks.
