Free-moN Staging Yard - 16"x10'

It was showtime at the Hiller.

Silicon Valley Free-moN had our modules set up and trains running only to find...

ONLY ONE PASSING SIDING ON THE WHOLE LAYOUT????

We had over a week of show and the ability to run only two trains at a time?

What would happen next Sunday when the whole group showed up and wanted to run trains?
Draw straws?
Stand in line?

Something had to be done!

So I built (most of) a staging yard in (most of) a week.

Checking for bench work height with old portable layout (Was from and old railroad plan book).  Your looking at a 2 foot wide section over a 1 foot wide section.  You can also see the reach problem with the 2 foot wide section.

To All: Here are  representative views of the two levels if the layout. Work to be done, of course. Display shelves and railroad signs on the wall.

if you are interested in Australian desert model railways

Hi All

I just joined, MRHM has got some great tips, if you are interested in Australian Desert Model Railways, check out my Blog for one of my layouts, Barcoola.

Barcoola is my take on Tarcoola, the junction between the Central Australian Railway (to Alice Springs and Darwin) and Perth Western Australia.

I model Australian National in 1993, lots of long trains, double stacking, TOFC, Roadrailers etc.

Chesapeake, Wheeling & Erie Update

Thought I would provide an update on what's been happening around the layout over the last month or so. I have been working on a small, truck load tipple that will be located at Big Chimney, West Virginia. Below are several photos of progress to date.

Millard Lumber Complete

Jumped the gun a little bit on my last progress report since a styrene slab isn't much to write home about.  But I got around to finishing Millard Lumber on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.  It's nothing amazing but was a great first step in scratch-building and answered a lot of questions before I tackle the larger structures on the layout.
