This is my attempt to Scratch build a Colorado & Southern butterfly snowplow.
The Ho & O line - Nested Structures - Has it been done
As some of you may know my interest is mainly narrow gauge On30 and I am in the first stages of construction. Besides having a nice collection of On30 equipment over the years I have acquired some HO scale locos, rolling stock and structures. As it so happens On30 and HO track is one and the same with the possible exception of tie spacing and tie size. So now I'm thinking, What if I "Nested" HO scale structures inside my O scale structures.

DIY Bear Trap smoke stack for Bachmann On30 C&S #22
After I installed my DCC decoder in the Bachmann 2-6-0 I figured I might as well make a bear trap smoke stack. After all that is the most distinctive addition that you can add to this locomotive. I found a photograph of #22 on the internet and used that as a guide. I printed out the photo and compared it to my until it matched close to the same size. This would be my guide for making a template. You can see the template in the opening shot of video.
Users Blocking blogs with the Spam button
Ok, I have been the "victim" to the "Mark as spam" even though my Blog was not "Spam" . It would seem there are those among us that wish to impose their views about what constitutes as Spam. I will suggest that people posting messages about other Magazines or Books should be considered as "Review's" other then spam. If you have a bias against a magazine (i.e. Model Railroader ) thats fine by me,but dont mark a post as spam because one of the MRH subscribers post information about "News" that that publication is doing.
RailDriver/JMRI/Bachmann On30 Climax = Awesome Fun
At Trainfestival 2009 I had purchased a RailDriver® Desktop Train Cab Controller in hopes of one day integrating it with my DCC controller and JMRI software. I have reached the point where it is in testing. I have posted a video on my Youtube channel. Click the link if you wish. Please leave a comment here or on the Youtube Video page with your thoughts. Thanks,

Panoramic view of my Train Room
Here is a Panoramic view of the train room. This will be an On30 layout. About 16' x 17' and 9' walls.I have two recessed areas. Also have two doorways. The tall one is the entrance. The other doorway is space under the stairs. I think this will be the computer/Dispatcher area. The short wall to the left of the entrance door will have a few tunnels through it leading to a helix in an adjoining room. I plan to have three levels on this layout.I have all of the benchwork stored in another room. Benchwork came from a guy that was getting out of the hobby.
Getting Small
Years ago I read an article in Model Railroader about a man who took a walking trip around his layout. On this trip he noted those things that looked realistic and un realistic. The thing that stood out in my mind the most was Ungrounded buildings. Ungrounded being that they seemed to hover in mid air at the base, floating several inches above. Now in the real world buildings are setting on foundations or right on the ground. Seldom hanging in mid air unless some force of mother nature had occurred.
