Hand Salute!

Thanks to all the vets who served with me or are serving now. I am proud of your service and the fact fact we can enjoy our favorite hobby together. Huuaah! to all my Army buddies, and a big SEMPER FI to my nephew and other Marines (affectionately Jarheads - LOL) out there.

Model railroading is expensive but so sre nuclear powere aircraft carriers

I just read an thread about how expensive model railroading can be. And I see a direct parallel between building nuclear powered aircraft carriers and model railroading.

No some of you may wonder whether I have finally gone off my rocker with this comment. Well I don't own a rocker so I obviously can't get off it but et me explain myself.

Bob's Railroad work session 11-9-11

For those of you that didn't read previous posts, Bob's Railroad is a toy railroad for the children at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.  A number of generous gentlemen (for now un-named) wanted to do something special for the children at NE Ga Medical Center which is a wonderful hospital about 20 miles from my home.  These gentlemen contacted model railroaders in our area to see if we would be interested in building the layout if they provided the money for the materials.  What a wonderful opportunity to help the children and have some fun!

Train Shed going up

At last I will have room for a HO model train layout. The shed is going to have heated floor and a bathroom. Just wish they could have started on it a little sooner. Will keep you updated.

Designing my HO scale Wisconsin & Southern

Little Background

Recently my family and I (expectant wife and 3 kids), lost our home due to a flood of epic proportions.  We lost our entire home, however we were able to save much of our possessions.  As we rebuild our home of the last 8 years, there are a few things we've changed to improve.  To say the least the home 2 bed 1 bath home was built in 1958 and encompassed 780 sq ft above ground.  We had a full basement but only 75% was used for human occupancy due to mechanical space.  As a contractor and carpenter I had a small shop 399 sq ft th

An F7 in the basement...!

Went on the NMRA Lansing Legacies 2011 layout tours. There were many impressive layouts with a lot of talented  modelers showing layouts. I have to say though .....This REALLY impressed me.I will be uploading videos and slideshows on my channel so check em out if you like.

Capturing a layout before we have to move.

The US Model Railroad Club of Western Australia has been given notice by our landlord that he won't renew our lease when it next comes up for renewal. So after some 12 years of layout construction we are going to have to move to a new abode.

During this time we've managed to build a large HO layout that almost fully occupies a 30' x 50' industrial unit. Due to the way it was constructed, the layout won't be easily moved so we are going to have to start again in our new location.

Roadbed

I've put down roadbed for the mainline. I'm using Woodland Scenics' N-scale roadbed [though I guess this is one of the rare cases where "N-gauge" is the proper term], using Liquid Nails for Projects to adhere it. The shot glass in the photo below has finally proven useful as a roller to make sure the roadbed is pressed down smoothly. The sectional track is there just as a template for curves (though I've tried to put in easements as well).
