Interesting Kitbashed Steamer to Model

I saw this in an old RMC. An interesting kitbash on a 1:1 model.

Identify and repair this old steam locomotive

I have this old HO steam locomotive which I am planning to use for static display. The screw that connects the cylinder, side rod and linkage is missing (highlighted in red). Does anyone know where to find a replacement? It would probably help if anyone can identify the make of the loco? I thought it might be a Mantua, but what I see the Mantua Mikados have a flat top on the trailing truck.

A Scratchbuilt On30 4-6-4T

I've just completed my latest build in On30, a 4-6-4 tank engine.  Here's a video outlining how I made it:

Weathering a steam loco

I'd like to make this loco, which I've had for ages,

look like this (pretty much what it would look like for the era I model)

It is hard to tell what the faded and weathered colours are on this loco, as it seems to be lit by a warm sunset.

Everything old is new again? (steam locomotive trucks)

Joe Brugger's article goes right to the heart of a number of important subjects.

I was just a little too young to have any Varney die cast locomotives,  but I was just old enough to see  Athearn-, Model Die Casting/Roundhouse, Penn Line and other manufacturers' HO steam engine models. And I was just in time to see the importation of Rivarossi steam engines.

Ma and Pa # 43

I am looking for a artacal for building the #43 loco of the Ma and Pa from tyco parts and wooden body. Does anyone know where I can find this.
