I have a 5-car K-Line set of heavyweight passenger coaches.  When I received the cars, the trucks had been replaced with 2-rail trucks (which is good, since I model in 2-rail O-Scale).  All the internal lighting is still in place (including markers on the porch car), but not connected.  I can add pickups on the trucks.  Given that I operate with DCC, what are my options for operating the lights?  Voltage regulator, always on?  DCC chip - but then controlling lights that draw a lot of current?   I prefer to maintain the original lighting of these model

This is the update for 12 December 2015. The construction of the layout finally reached the Union Station (aka Kansas City Union Station) yard area in early December. I've left this area to the end because it will have the most complex construction piece, the engine facility in the middle of the east helix. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks, I can get a couple of tracks installed to join the layout from one end to the other. I am in the process of planning the design of the support structure for the engine facility that will be placed in the middle of the east helix.

Does anybody have experience expanding NCE's Powercab with the Tam Valley boosters?  I know you run a command station bus from the Powercab that you connect the boosters to but can you use that bus to control a section of track that will only see one to two locos?
