DCC - Electrical
Rivarossi DCC project
I am in the final stages of installing a DCC system into a favorite Mikado HO model and all of a sudden I cannot get power from the tracks. It seems to be from the positive side of the engine... the red wire picks up power (I think) from a spring and brass bushing that rides on the axle of the last set of drivers. I cannot see how the connection is made and yes everything was working fine when I took it apart... Not paying attention is of course part of the problem, other than that...
electronic simulation software
Is there any software for simulating electronic projects before building? I've seen some that would be useful for logic and digital circuits but what I seek is something I could put in a schematic to see if it works. Like if I did a circuit for example of cross buck flashers and entered the schematic. Added simulated power supply would the LEDs on my schematic blink?
A look inside an LM-2
Want to see what's inside a Rail Pro decoder? Pretty dang complex bit of micro electronics. Made in the USA. Take that China!
DCC Installations Problem
I am installing a Digitrax SDH164 into a older 2-8-2 steam engine for a friend. I am not really sure what brand of engine it is. It is an inexpensive engine, but it has a can motor. It runs ok on DC. The start voltage is around 6 volts and the stall amps at full power is .08 Amps (80mA).
Genesis GP15-1 sounds like there are rocks in the speaker
I have a Athearn Genesis GP15-1 (DCC with sound) that sounds like it has something rattling around in the speaker. The bad sound is still there if I have the speaker out of the loco. I have used 3 different speakers and get the same scratchy sound. I am beginning to think it is in the sound files.
Anybody else have this problem? And, of course, any solutions?
I have another Genesis GP15-1 that was a non-sound, DC version. I installed a Tsunami GN1000 decoder, the install was easy and the sound is good.
Soundtraxx Tsunami Sound Start on Engine Select
OK...I'm pretty sure I've seen someplace that on the Tsunami you can set the sound to come on only when the engine address is selected vs the default which is sound on when track is powered on. I can not find the CV(s) to do that in looking thru the technical reference manual.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Bob
Short Circuit
How do I remedy this short circuit? See below attachment

Great Works weekend
A great weekend of work. The crew has finished up the last of the bench work with fascia going up in the last areas. Cabinets being finished with doors hung and painted.
Current Draw of Parked Locos
In DCC do parked engines draw any current if they are non sound decoders and all the lights are off?
