Digitrax with Bachmann

I have a 4x6 ho scale layout and I have read a forum that had explained wiring up the digitrax controller to the E-Z track. I am pondering to buy the super-chief set, the club layout that I enjoy visiting uses this system. Can someone help me with this issue. I am using the Bachmann E-Z Command Control System and thinking of upgrading to something a little more advanced, since I might purchase some Broadway Limited Imports locos. I need a pretty detailed procedure on how to do this task. Thanks in advance.

ACK!!! Did I just fry my first decoder?

I have a NCE PowerCab, and I just installed a TCS CN-GP decoder into my N Scale Kato built Atlas GP35. As soon as power hits the rails, this loco takes off in high gear in forward, without being told to do so. Did I fry my decoder or is there a CV that I can edit?

Thanks,

John

South Bend Signal users?

Hi.

I'm installing South Bend Signal Company searchlight signals on my layout, and I'm hoping there are some other users in the forum who have experience hooking them up.

Soundtraxx Tsunami Soundcar

Prof mentioned the Soundtraxx Tsunami Soundcar. This really deserves its own thread.

What does everybody think of this? The concept is certainly cutting edge, and the effects very much needed, but we need more info and more demonstration.

MRC Decoder Fix

Just recently placed an MRC 1624 decoder in an F-unit and could not get the decoder to set a new address, or any thing else for that matter. It worked perfectly fine on Address 3, just wouldn't take instruction.

I tried resetting (CV 125) with no luck.

I am using an EZ DCC system and had a Soundtraxx PB 100 in the line to the programming track.

Just for the heck of it I bypassed the booster and then I was able to program the decoder.

Don't know if this may help others but I thought I would pass it along.

JMRI & MRC

We have all heard about MRC Prodigy DCC systems not supporting JMRI over the past few years.  The good news is that MRC finally decoded to get on the JMRI bandwagon!  MRC & JMRI developers have been working on making that happen - Sometime this summer JMRI will be releasing  a new version with support for the MRC Prodigy systems.

Those darn reverse loops!

I've reached the stage where I must consider how to implement isolation and wiring of reverse loops and for the life of me I'm having a hard time trying to understand the requirements.

If someone could help I would be most grateful.

My layout looks like this:

and, as far as I can tell there are two reverse loops:

Under $2 solution for Flickerfree LED coach lights

Commercially available Flicker Free (Supercaps or Stay Alive) circuits are good for driving a chain of LED's if you hard wire these or use the manufacturers PCB. These are all designed around an output voltage of 3V, since the supercap is rated for max. 5.5V at say 1F or 1.5F. The capacitor itself is a $1.50 min. on eBay
