Testing LED's
Good evening,
Just a quick question to see if anyone would happen to have the name and where to get all in one unit to test LED's. For some reason I can't seem to recall the name and where to get it.
Thanks

Scale Model Animation 9: Sequencing, Updates & a Challenge
Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! This entry includes a video presenting ideas for animation sequencing, project updates, and a new DCC controlled, passenger coach animation. There's also a challenge for you to guess where my next project runs!

DCC Installation In 040 Mantua Yard Goat Switcher Steam Engine
Here is what I have 3 mantua Yard Goat switchers. One has a bad engine the other two are fair runners. With that said if I am replacing a motor might as well replace all 3 and add DCC w/out sound.
Has anyone actually done this to this Engine? And what motor do you recommend using and what isolations need to be performs along the way?

ATSF Paradigm Division - Staging Level Construction Update 2
I have now completed the wiring of Staging Yard "A" (10 tracks) on the near side of the peninsula. It took about 35 hours over two weeks to complete the wiring job. All 10 tracks can be turned on or off via the SPDT switches located in the recessed openings in the fascia and each track has an LED power-on indicator. The switches were recycled from my previous DC layout.

A different DCC uncoupler idea
I have an idea for a DCC uncoupler which I think would be a lot simpler than anything else out there, provided that it works. I don't have the time or inclination to work on it, so I'm posting it here for anyone else to take it and run.

DCC uncoupling
Here's a guy that developed TT scale boxcars that uncouple via DCC control.
The poster has "embed" code turned off or I would have embedded the video.

Isolating DC-71 Type Motors
I have 2 steam engines that I just revived from 4 junkers, that I want to convert to DCC. The question is how to isolate the DC-71 style motor.
Do I use
1. Nylon screws to secure the motor to the frame and further insulate between the motor and frame with electrical or kapton tape, or
2. Would just insulating the brush holder from the retaining spring on top of the motor work. Exactly as the brush on the opposite side of the motor, or
3. A combination of the two?
Am I over simplifying this or have I missed something?
