Getting the Sunset and North Eastern back in business
I had a lot of discussions on the forums regarding my N Scale iteration of the S&NE. I got quite heavily into branding of my locos etc. However, due to a move, I lost that one. With limited space, I got into UK Narrow Gauge 009. I found that fun but as "everything" had to be scratch built, pretty much, and most of the kits were short run stuff that needed a lot of work to get together, I dropped it. Now the room has been freed up completely and I have 12' x 8' 6", I can get an HO railroad running again.
How does one upload a jpg picture to a web post
I tried to copy a reduced size picture from my computer to my web post reply to the topic about support for an upper deck. The picture was there when I edited the post but disappeared when I went to another web site and then came back to see my post. The picture was gone and replaced by a question mark in a small blue rectangle (Safari on an iMac). I was looking around for a how to do it section on the website. Maybe I missed it (home sick with the flu right now and my head does feel filled with cotton a little right now).

Track Plan Tri-County CO-OP & Grain Elevator
I designed this Track Plan of the Tri-County CO-OP & Grain Elevator, based on the actual layout of the track, elevator and buildings. This facility is located close to where I live. I have always been fascinated with the operation of this small industry.

Help - Room-Friendly Layout Preparation & Benchwork
Hello,
I have just closed on my new house and have been surveying my new layout space, which is approximately 40' long by 17' wide, plus a nice (huge!) HVAC closet with more than enough room for a helix, a staging yard and workbench area. However, unlike in my last house, this space is already finished and has a carpeted floor. And while I do own the house and can strike a nail anywhere that suits my fancy, what I'm hoping to discover is a "kinder, gentler" way of building the layout such that it has a lower impact on the room.

Prototype examples of bridges on a grade?
Hi all, I am going to be installing some bridges on my N scale layout soon and wanted to know if is acceptable to put a truss and/or girder bridge on a 2% grade, or is that just not done.
Thanks, Mike

Light and Easy
I have been catching up on back issues of MRH and came across one of the $500 layout ideas. I was struck by several things.
- You don't have to spend a fortune to build a layout
- Making use of non-conventional materials for layout construction
- There is no excuse for not having a layout
- Inglenooks are much simpler yet just as challenging as a John Allen Timesaver
I have a John Allen Timesaver that is almost complete but suffers from several problems.
Layout Lighting with LED Tubes to replace T8 florescents
I made the following post in a couple of Yahoo discussion groups and I thought it might be useful here. I was unaware before today that there were Led tubes to directly replace T-8 florescent tubes. Others here might already have known that, but now it looks more like that is what I will do to lower the wattage used and avoid UV radiation from florescent lights. I still have to work out what to use for lower deck lighting and that will probably be some smaller LED floodlights. T-8 sized LED tubes will not fit under the upper deck.

Cornhill &Atherton – Mortimer: East of Matrimony Hill
After leaving the tunnel at the summit of Matrimony Hill, the C&A main heads east and passes through Mortimer. This is a small but moderately busy town which services passengers and general freight traffic for a few local industries. Fess Allman is the Station Master and he (like many of those employed by the C&A) is an unusual character. More on Fess and his curious staff at a later date…..
