Operations
OS Omaha 2021
October 22-23-24 eleven layouts in Omaha hosted OS Omaha 2021. 38 participants came from all over the Midwest to operate on the layouts. Each person got to operate on 4 layouts, Friday night, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning. In addition there were about a dozen local helpers and another dozen local operators that filled vacancies in one or more sessions.
Interesting Opinions on Ever-Increasing Trottle Control Functions
There are a significant number of discussions going on over on this specialized forum. One that caught my attention basically discusses NCE system which is the one I chose long ago based on recommendations from users up in the DC/Balt region that was dominated by Digitrax early on.

Traction Tires (& driver wheels that accept them)
A number of us have steam engines that were produced a number of years ago, and may no longer be in production. Some of these locos had traction wheels.
Are there sources for replacement parts,...both tires and wheels?
TrainCat Models Manufacture of Etched Brass Models
TrainCat Models
I first saw their exquisite kits and built up models at The Springfield Show in the early 2000's they were to the left as you entered the main building.
They had a great oil drilling derrick you could modify to gas, website shows really great light tower.
Now that I am to the point I can use them I got a surprise on the traincat2.com website.
Home page has a banner "BREAKING NEWS Due to the passing of my wife, TrainCat remains in hiatus"
Being Satisfied
Switch jobs are starting be run. Need to create the mirror image trains as with Dick Elwell. No one has chosen to do the Helper Section and the cuts are likely cat hair glued to their spots. Will need to clean some. I am of the mind to rebbuild St Albans...certainly need to do the fascia/turnout markings and clean up the wiring. Would like to make clear the staging role and a couple of switch runs. The current status looks weary and the engine lead is not correct. I am thinking three through tracks of 7-9 feet in the back with a siding for switchers
DJK Builds A ... Video Build Series
This blog is somewhat self promotional but I think that the information shared will be both informative and entertaining. My intention is to present techniques that I use when building models using a video format.

Op Session #000
Tonight was my only free night this week so I decided to run a mini op session on the layout and see how it went. I will have between 9 and 12 car spots depending on how I set up the industries.
-3 spots at the lumber dealer
-2 or 3 spots at the manufacturer
-2 hopper spots
-1 or 2 tank spots
-1 or 2 team track spots
